Job Description

Automation EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an Automation Engineer to design, develop, and deploy reliable industrial automation solutions. The primary focus of this role is PLC programming to implement control logic, commission equipment, and ensure seamless integration with higher-level systems. The Automation Engineer will collaborate with electrical, controls, and operations teams to optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and deliver safe, maintainable control systems that meet production and quality objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, program, and maintain PLC logic and ladder/function block/code for industrial control systems.

Design, configure, and integrate HMI and SCADA interfaces to present process data and alarms to operators.

Commission, test, and troubleshoot automated systems at the factory and field sites; perform loop checks and validate control performance.

Create, review, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and CAD drawings in collaboration with electrical engineers.

Implement and tune feedback control systems and PID loops to achieve stable and efficient process control.

Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, electrical, process, safety) to deliver turnkey automation projects on schedule.

Document system designs, software baselines, test plans, commissioning reports, and maintenance procedures.

Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry codes, and company procedures during design and commissioning.

Coordinate with vendors and integrators to procure, install, and validate automation components.

Train operators and maintenance staff on
HMI/SCADA
operation, basic troubleshooting, and safe work practices.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Automation, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Proven experience with PLC programming (required) experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other major PLC platforms preferred.3+ years of hands-on experience implementing and commissioning automated control systems preferred.

Familiarity with
SCADA/HMI
systems and integration best practices (nice to have).Experience with CAD tools for electrical schematics and panel layouts (nice to have).Background in controls engineering, control system design, and feedback control systems (nice to have).Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring practices, and panel fabrication (nice to have).Strong troubleshooting skills and practical experience with on-site commissioning and start-up activities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear documentation and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Willingness to travel to site locations for commissioning and support as required.

Relevant certifications (PLC vendor certification, electrical safety, or control system training) are a plus.
