Job Description

OverviewA growing telecommunications organization is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and support of a multi-vendor network environment. This role will own complex initiatives end-to-end, serve as a technical escalation point, and help drive modernization across data, transport, and access networks.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement carrier-grade network infrastructure across data, transport, and fiber access environmentsTroubleshoot and resolve complex network issues as a senior escalation resourceLead projects, review designs, and mentor team membersBuild automation tools/scripts to improve monitoring, provisioning, and performanceMaintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and operational standardsEvaluate new technologies and support vendor selectionAnalyze performance trends and implement reliability improvementsSupport modernization efforts (e.g., segment routing, EVPN, next-gen optical and PON technologies)Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotationRequired Experience5+ years of network engineering experience in enterprise or service provider environmentsStrong knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6)Hands-on experience with routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, etc.)Experience with carrier Ethernet services and transport/optical networking (DWDM/CWDM)Understanding of QoS, VPNs, network security, and monitoring toolsAbility to troubleshoot across L1-L3 environmentsStrong communication skills and project ownership experiencePreferred ExperienceBackground in telecommunications or ISP environmentsExposure to EVPN/VXLAN, segment routing, and modern network architecturesAutomation/scripting (Python, Ansible, APIs)Experience with Linux and virtualization platformsFamiliarity with IPAM or source-of-truth toolsCertifications
CCNP, JNCIP
