Location:
Hartford, CT (hybrid) Pay rate: $60 / hourly as W2 About the Role Are you a DNS, DHCP, and IPAM (DDI) expert who loves keeping enterprise networks running flawlessly? We are seeking a DDI Network Engineer to become the core subject matter expert for our on-premise enterprise network infrastructure. While your primary mission (80%) will be owning and optimizing our robust Infoblox environment, you will also play a key role (20%) in driving our modern evolution into cloud integration and network automation. Working alongside a talented hybrid team, you will ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our critical network services. Key Responsibilities On-Premise DDI Core Management (80%)
Architect & Modernize:
Design, implement, and manage enterprise DDI infrastructure utilizing Infoblox solutions (NIOS, Grid architecture).
Maintain Peak Performance:
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize DDI services to guarantee 99.9%+ availability across data centers and campus networks.
Lifecycle Management:
Lead Infoblox appliance upgrades, patches, and maintenance windows.
Security & Compliance:
Implement rigorous security best practices for DDI infrastructure, including DNSSEC and strict access controls.
Capacity Planning:
Oversee accurate IP address allocation, subnet management, and infrastructure scaling to meet growing enterprise demands. Cloud Platform Integration (10%) Bridge to the
Cloud:
Integrate on-premise DDI services with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Hybrid Architecture:
Manage complex, hybrid DNS architectures that seamlessly span on-premise and public cloud environments.
Project Support:
Support cloud-bound applications with rock-solid DNS and IP management during migration phases. Automation & Innovation (10%)
Streamline Operations:
Provide technical guidance to develop automation tools that eliminate manual DDI tasks. Infrastructure as
Code:
Assist in implementing IaC practices for DDI configurations and building self-service capabilities for internal teams. Collaboration & Leadership Create and maintain high-quality documentation for DDI architecture and procedures. Mentor junior team members and collaborate cross-functionally with Security and Infrastructure teams. Participate in standard change management processes and the team on-call rotation.
Qualifications:
Infoblox Expertise:
Proven, hands-on engineering experience with Infoblox DDI solutions (NIOS, Grid Manager, DNS, DHCP, IPAM).
Network Fundamentals:
Deep understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLAN design, routing protocols, and core DNS protocols (including DNSSEC).
Scale Experience:
Past success managing enterprise-scale, on-premise network infrastructure.
Troubleshooting Sharpness:
Advanced skills in diagnosing complex network and DDI protocol issues.
Communication:
Exceptional documentation skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Points For:
Certifications such as Core Infoblox Core Admin (CICA) or Core Infoblox Core Engineer (CICE). Familiarity with automation tools/languages (Python, Ansible, or Terraform) for network environments. Experience with hybrid cloud networking setups. #LI-MG1
