Job Description

Job Description We are seeking an experienced F5 Network Engineer to support and expand our enterprise load balancing and application delivery infrastructure. This role will be responsible for designing, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting
F5 BIG-IP
environments across production data center and hybrid cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in F5 LTM and GTM (DNS/IP Intelligence), automation, traffic management, security integrations, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, deploy, and maintain
F5 BIG-IP
LTM and GTM (DNS) configurations for application load balancing and high availability.
  • Implement and manage traffic management components including virtual servers, pools, Wide IPs, iRules, monitors, persistence profiles, and SSL/TLS offloading.
  • Develop and maintain advanced iRules and profile configurations to support application logic, traffic manipulation, and security requirements.
  • Configure and support
GSLB/DNS
load balancing, health monitoring, persistence methods, and load balancing methods such as RTT and topology-based routing.
  • Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot production incidents, and perform root-cause analysis across application delivery environments.
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks including configuration backups, config synchronization, deployments, and reporting through scripting and CI/CD integrations.
  • Maintain technical documentation, change controls, runbooks, and capacity planning documentation.
  • Coordinate with network, security, server, performance, and application teams during deployments, upgrades, and testing activities.
  • Implement security best practices including WAF policy management, DoS protections, access controls, certificate management, and platform patching.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience administering
F5 BIG-IP LTM
in enterprise production environments, including virtual servers, pools, monitors, persistence, and SNAT.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and supporting
F5 GTM/DNS
(GSLB) solutions, including Wide IPs, health monitoring, topology records, and load-balancing algorithms.
  • 5+ years of advanced experience developing and maintaining iRules and iRulesLX to support traffic steering, application logic, and security use cases.
  • 7+ years of strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, NAT, routing, and high-availability design.
  • 5+ years of hands-on SSL/TLS certificate management experience, including CSR generation, SAN certificates, certificate chains, and
OCSP/CRL
validation.
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting complex production issues using tmsh, tcpdump, BIG-IP GUI/API, logs, and packet captures.
  • 3+ years of experience automating infrastructure or operational tasks using Python, Bash, TCL, REST APIs, Ansible, or similar tools.
  • 3+ years of Linux systems administration experience, including networking concepts, package management, and service management.
  • Experience with F5 ASM (WAF), AFM, and APM modules.
  • Exposure to F5 Viprion or Velos hardware platforms.
  • Experience with cloud load balancing (AWS ELB/ALB/NLB, Azure Application Gateway).
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes ingress and modern application delivery tools (NGINX, Traefik).
  • Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
  • Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and WAF tuning best practices.
  • Relevant certifications (F5-CA, F5-CTS, CCNA/CCNP, or cloud certifications).
Compensation:
$50/hr to $60/hr
  • Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Eligibility to enroll in the 401(k) retirement plan begins after 90 days of employment.
