Part-Time About ECS The mission of the Environmental Charter Schools (ECS) is to reimagine public education in low-income communities of color to prepare conscious, critical thinkers who are equipped to graduate from college and create a more equitable and sustainable world. Environmental Charter Schools (ECS) is a non-profit charter management organization with four free public schools in Los Angeles' South Bay. Since its inception in 2001, ECS has provided a unique learning experience that utilizes project-based, interdisciplinary curricula to inspire our students to find authentic meaning in their studies. ECS proudly serves over 1,700 students at two middle schools (Gardena and Inglewood) and at two high schools (Lawndale and Gardena) and has been recognized for its ability to close achievement gaps for low-income Black/African American and Latino students. ECHS Lawndale ranks in the top 2% of public high schools in U.S. News & World Report, 100% of students graduate high school with the coursework necessary for admission to a four-year college or university, and 97% of students are admitted into a four-year college. Most of our students will be the first in their family to graduate from college. The Opportunity Environmental Charter Schools is seeking a talented IT Assistant to provide tech support for ECS employees and students and to support the ECS technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
On-site and remote technical support Remote support and on-site visits when necessary or as defined in this contract. Access to Helpdesk during business hours. Troubleshoot PCs, network, laptop, anti-virus and other equipment problems. Application support for Microsoft Office on Windows and OSX. Computer lab and Chromebook setup and maintenance. Install, configure printers on PC's and laptops. Diagnose and resolve basic infrastructure problems e.g. bad network cards, HUB port problems, patch cords. Diagnose and resolve Windows and OSX workstation operating system problems. Assist end-users with their questions or problems with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and G-Suite for Education. Perform research and analysis to resolve technical problems. Add users to a network operating system and change user's passwords when necessary. Perform systems backups and maintain backup tape rotations where applicable.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Commitment to the success of all students and the ECS mission, vision, and values Proficiency supporting and troubleshooting all commonly used technological software systems at ECS including but not limited to G Suite for Education (including Google Classroom), MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, TalkingPoints, Blackboard, SchoolMint, PowerSchool, WordPress, Google Sites, and distance learning platforms such as Zoom, Nearpod, Actively Learn, Padlet, and Screencastify. Proficiency supporting and troubleshooting commonly used hardware systems at ECS, including but not limited to Apple laptops, Chromebooks, document cameras, webcams, iPads (including Swivl), internet hotspots, cell phones, monitors, and laptop peripherals. Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask. Works collaboratively and is willing to drive between multiple sites. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of student, staff, and school information. This job primarily operates on a school site and in classrooms and utilizes typical office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.).
Physical demands include:
positioning to lift (should be able to lift up to 30 pounds to waist high), carry, push, and/or pull, kneel, stoop, crouch and bend. Generally, the job is 60% Stationary and 40% moving/traversing.
