Storage and Visualization Engineer

Overview Abacus Technology is seeking a Storage and Virtualization Engineer to provide technical support for the AFCENT Network Operations and Security Center (NOSC) at Shaw AFB. This is a full-time position. Responsibilities Install, configure, test, deploy and maintain hosted VMware products, Virtual Storage tools to include but not limited to Access Control, Virtual Machine File System (VMFS) Datastores, and ESXi Servers. Ensure and maintain enterprise backups are executed by configuring appropriately scheduled back up jobs. Develop reports and trend analysis documentation on bandwidth and network security incidents. AFCENT NOSC

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) efforts. Assist with enterprise database SQL tasks (i.e. DISA STIGs) as determined by the

AFCENT NOSC.

Perform analysis for collaboration of network / system needs and participate in planning, designing, upgrading and deployment of enterprise datacenter hardware and software. Provide LAN/WAN support. Qualifications 5+ years experience in a systems engineering or administration role. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements. Must be Security+ certified. Must be Network+, VCTA, or CCNA certified. Must hold the ITIL v3 or v4 Foundations certification or be able to obtain the certification within 60 days of hire. Must have VMWare and virtual storage experience. Experience with MS Windows and Active Directory. Able to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions. Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution. Solid customer service and communication skills are critical as well as the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner. Must be able to provide support in a 24/7/365 environment including occasionally covering shifts outside of the assigned shift and/or providing after hours, weekend, or holiday support as needed on a rotational basis. Must be able to travel to CONUS sites to provide TDY support. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
