Job Description

The Catapult team is a SecDevOps Team focused specifically on building and supporting enterprise solutions for migration of data between Sovereign Realms. Our team leverages Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) best practices to develop scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. Sov Realms have unique challenges which require unique solutions to provide a seamless customer interaction between commercial and other realms. This is where our team thrives, providing the connective tissues and purpose-built solutions. We are seeking a Software Development Engineer (SDE) to join our team within the Oracle Government Defense Intelligence (GDI) division. Who We Are At Oracle Government Defense Intelligence (GDI), we build and operate secure cloud capabilities for mission-critical government workloads. We move with urgency, operate at cloud scale, and maintain a high bar for security and reliability. Our engineers design and run critical systems that support government missions, including solutions for air-gapped regions.

US:
Hiring Range in USD from: $68,500 to $158,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity. Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. Oracle US offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes the following: 1. Paid time off:
Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation. 9. 11 paid holidays 10.
Paid sick leave:

Career Level - IC2 Our Software Development Engineers are hands-on builders who deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud services. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and operations of distributed systems that support mission-critical workloads in air-gapped realms. You will partner closely with senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions and continuously improve service reliability.
    Architect and Design:
    Contribute to the design and implementation of microservices that support distributed systems, data egress, and integration across multiple realms.
      Build Distributed Systems:
      Develop and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure services to support data processing and platform capabilities.
        Coding:
        Write correct, secure, maintainable, and testable code using industry best practices.
          Data Pipeline Support:
          Build and improve resilient data egress workflows to support consistent data movement and aggregation across OCI realms.
            Collaboration:
            Work with data engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to align technical delivery with business and operational goals.
              Problem Solving:
              Troubleshoot service issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance and reliability improvements.
                Operations:
                Participate in on-call and operational response, support incident investigations, and contribute to root cause analysis and follow-up actions.
                  Observability:
                  Build and enhance service metrics, dashboards, and alerting to improve situational awareness and operational readiness.
                    Continuous Improvement:
                    Learn from production operations and apply improvements to service quality, resilience, and engineering practices. Basic Qualifications
                    • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding, or equivalent practical experience.
                    • 2-4 years of software development experience in distributed/cloud environments.
                    • Experience with object-oriented languages, specifically Java and Javascript.
                    • Experience building and supporting production software with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
                    • Understanding of service design fundamentals including security, scalability, availability, and performance.
                    • Ability to communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (design docs, implementation notes, technical discussions). Preferred Qualifications
                    • Experience contributing to technical design and implementation across cross-functional teams.
                    • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architecture patterns.
                    • Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD practices.
                    • Exposure to production operations, observability, incident response, and reliability improvements.
                    • Familiarity with networking fundamentals and Linux internals in cloud environments.
