Job Description

Network Engineer $50/hr Contract to Hire Onsite in Goodlettsville, TN We are seeking a Network Engineer to support the full lifecycle of store network environments across a 16,000-store footprint. This role will work closely with field operations, vendors, deployment partners, and store locations to ensure timely resolution of network issues, successful device transitions, and overall network health. The ideal candidate will have hands-on familiarity with the Cisco Meraki Dashboard, including device onboarding/offboarding, hardware cleanup, inventory management, and licensing maintenance. This individual should be highly organized, customer-focused, and able to communicate effectively with both technical teams and non-technical store managers while coordinating with partners such as Comcast and other deployment vendors. Duties & Responsibilities Monitor, triage, and resolve network alerts and intermediate-level incidents related to Cisco Meraki MX, MS, and MR hardware. Perform configuration reviews for new and existing devices, validate template assignments, and update configurations as needed. Support store lifecycle activities including device replacements, dashboard cleanup, hardware unbinding/unclaiming, and verification of topology changes. Ensure lifecycle devices are properly removed from the Meraki Dashboard and maintain accurate device inventory and licensing records. Verify configuration and deployment readiness of newly installed network devices. Maintain and update network documentation, including diagrams, standards, inventory records, and troubleshooting procedures. Provide detailed progress reporting related to store lifecycle and deployment activities. Coordinate with deployment vendors, field technicians, and internal teams to ensure timely execution of network-related projects. Deliver direct support to store managers and field teams during network incidents, translating technical issues into clear, business-friendly communication while driving timely resolution. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Familiarity with Cisco Meraki security appliances, switches, and wireless platforms (MX, MS, MR). Understanding of cloud-managed networking concepts and Meraki Dashboard administration. Knowledge of Meraki templates, profiles, and device management workflows. Familiarity with network lifecycle management concepts and hardware transition processes. Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with peers, senior engineers, vendors, and non-technical stakeholders. Strong customer service mindset with the ability to professionally support store personnel during operational disruptions. Basic understanding of project coordination and deployment management concepts. Foundational knowledge of retail networking environments, including POS systems, back-office connectivity, and store infrastructure dependencies. Work Experience & Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 2-3 years of hands-on networking experience, preferably within Cisco or Meraki environments. Experience supporting retail networking environments, structured troubleshooting methodologies, and cloud-managed networking solutions preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience using AI-assisted or LLM-based tools for troubleshooting, documentation, or workflow efficiency is a plus.
