BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY
Support the Administrator of IT Infrastructure and Security in the design, implementation, and administration of LAN and WAN systems, including equipment procurement, network design, network documentation, equipment installation and maintenance, and network security and management. Incumbent performs professional and technical work associated with production Enterprise-Wide Area Network for the Bastrop
ISD. QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience CCNA, Network+, MCP, Panduit, CCNP Enterprise, or CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certifications preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of various types of network facilities; personal computer hardware and software, network operating systems and security software, and performance monitoring and capacity management tools Knowledge of structured cabling systems Knowledge and experience with various client Operating Systems and command line tools Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve

Self-motivated Experience:
Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience Experience with trouble-shooting Cisco network products using the Cisco Internetworking Operating System is required

Support of Administrative, Fiscal and/or
Facilities Functions:
Large Enterprise WAN/LAN design and installation; Research and propose LAN/WAN standards and procedures that support District policies. 24/7 support and maintenance of all wide area network equipment, including all network connections. Install and test network hardware and software, perform routine maintenance, and apply vendor updates to software. Install, configure, and maintain network access control (NAC) services. Configure, manage, and support the battery backup strategies to ensure proper uptime and reliability for all networking equipment. Configure, manage, and support DHCP and DNS systems and services. Monitor, analyze, and report on network utilization and availability. Manage network performance through fine-tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of LAN/WAN resources; Recommend enhancements to network facilities. Perform routine backup and archives of network configurations; Test network back-up procedures. Maintain organized documentation of the network environment and diagrams. Troubleshoot infrastructure issues; Support the efforts of the HelpDesk and field service teams; Collaborate with field technicians and HelpDesk to ensure that all endpoints are able to connect and operate effectively. Assist in the maintenance and management of antivirus solution to ensure the security of all infrastructure devices. Assist in the maintenance and management of email filter and threat protection services. Configure, manage, support the district's video surveillance system equipment and related hardware and software. Coordinate communications and security closet clean-up, switch port optimization, and survey work as needed. Support the Systems Support Technician II with any necessary physical installs and terminations of copper and fiber structured cable distribution systems. Handle multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines. Troubleshoot problems reported by users; Analyze and isolate issues; Consult with management and vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner. Document all work performed and keep accurate inventory records. Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
