$76.19/hour Position Summary We are seeking a Power Systems Specialist to provide technical expertise, software testing, systems integration, and operational support for electricity market applications. This role supports critical market operations by validating system functionality, participating in software implementations, supporting market simulations, and ensuring market systems operate effectively across production and non-production environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, moderate-to-strong SQL experience, and the ability to work with complex market and operational data. Experience supporting utility, ISO/RTO, energy trading, or power market systems is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities Market Systems Testing and Support Develop and execute functional test cases for electricity market applications. Validate software enhancements and system changes against business requirements. Support market simulation, parallel operations, and production readiness activities. Analyze and troubleshoot system issues involving market and operational data. Project Implementation and System Integration Participate in implementation teams supporting market system projects and enhancements. Collaborate with IT, project management, legal, policy, and business stakeholders. Support system integration efforts, application upgrades, and market rule implementations. Market Operations Support Assist with testing, documentation, training, and deployment activities. Support bid validation processes and market business rules. Coordinate with external market participants during simulation activities. Investigate and respond to participant inquiries and operational issues. Documentation and Compliance Maintain detailed technical and business process documentation. Ensure system modifications meet quality standards and business requirements. Support audit, compliance, and change management processes. Problem Resolution and Analysis Analyze implementation, integration, and design issues. Identify risks and recommend solutions to improve market system performance. Support continuous improvement initiatives across market operations and technology platforms. Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Experience 2+ years of experience in application support, systems analysis, software testing, market operations, power systems, or related technical environments. Required Technical Skills Strong SQL and database querying skills Experience working with Oracle or relational databases Software testing and test case development Systems integration and application support Data analysis and troubleshooting Preferred Qualifications Experience in electric utility, ISO/RTO, energy trading, or power market environments Knowledge of electricity market operations and market design Experience with Common Information Model (CIM) Web services and system integration technologies Business rules development (JRules or similar) Understanding of regulatory, economic, or market analysis concepts Professional Skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills Detail-oriented with strong documentation capabilities Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite The ideal candidate combines strong SQL and data analysis capabilities with experience supporting enterprise applications in a utility, energy, ISO/RTO, or power systems environment. They are comfortable working with market operations teams, validating system changes, supporting simulations, and troubleshooting complex business and technical issues.
