Full-Time Position Summary The Director of Behavioral Health Supported Living Services is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and supervision of community-based behavioral health programs including Supported Living Services (SLS), Independent Living Skills (ILS), Respite Services, and Day Programs . The Director ensures programs operate in compliance with state and federal regulations while promoting recovery, independence, and community integration for individuals with behavioral health and developmental needs. This position oversees program development, staff supervision, service quality, regulatory compliance, and financial performance while ensuring person-centered services that support clients in achieving their individualized goals. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership and Oversight Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for SLS, ILS, Respite, and Day Programs . Ensure all services align with person-centered planning, recovery-oriented practices, and community integration . Develop, implement, and monitor program policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, Medicaid waiver requirements, and behavioral health standards . Monitor program performance metrics and service outcomes. Staff Management and Supervision Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate program managers, supervisors, and direct support staff. Ensure staff maintain required certifications and training (CPR, First Aid, CPI, etc.). Provide leadership development and coaching to program supervisors. Ensure adequate staffing levels for all services. Promote a culture of professionalism, safety, and client-centered care. Clinical and Service Quality Oversight Ensure services are delivered in accordance with individualized service plans. Monitor quality of care and client satisfaction. Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, and care teams to support client outcomes. Oversee incident reporting, risk management, and corrective action processes. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards including: State Behavioral Health licensing requirements Medicaid waiver and funding requirements Health and safety standards Documentation and service delivery requirements Prepare for and participate in audits, inspections, and licensing reviews. Financial and Operational Management Develop and manage program budgets. Monitor program expenditures and ensure financial sustainability. Oversee billing compliance and documentation for services. Identify opportunities for program expansion and funding. Community and Stakeholder Collaboration Build and maintain relationships with community partners, referral agencies, and service providers. Represent the organization at community meetings and collaborative networks. Support outreach and program development initiatives. Program Oversight Areas Supported Living Services (SLS) The Director ensures SLS staff assist individuals with disabilities in living independently in their homes while providing support with daily living activities.Responsibilities include:
Oversight of individualized support services Ensuring community integration Monitoring health and safety in residential settings Supporting client independence and self-determination Independent Living Skills (ILS) The Director oversees training programs that help individuals develop essential life skills.Responsibilities include:
Oversight of skill-building services including: budgeting cooking transportation personal care communication Ensuring staff provide structured skill development Monitoring progress toward independence goals Respite Services The Director ensures temporary care services are available to support caregivers and families.Responsibilities include:
Managing short-term respite service delivery Ensuring client safety and comfort Supervising staff providing respite support Monitoring service utilization and caregiver satisfaction Day Programs The Director oversees structured daytime programs designed to support social engagement, skill development, and community participation.Responsibilities include:
Program curriculum and activity planning Community integration opportunities Social and recreational programming Supervision of day program staff and facilitators Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Human Services, or related field required Master's degree preferred Experience Minimum 5 years experience in behavioral health, developmental services, or community-based support programs Minimum 3 years leadership or supervisory experience Experience managing SLS, ILS, day programs, or similar services preferred Skills Strong leadership and staff management abilities Knowledge of behavioral health and community support services Understanding of regulatory compliance and licensing requirements Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously Core Competencies Leadership and Team Development Person-Centered Care Compliance and Risk Management Program Development Financial Oversight Crisis Management Community Collaboration Working Conditions Combination of office and community-based work environments Travel to program sites may be required Occasional evenings or weekends depending on program needs Mission Focus The Director ensures all programs empower individuals with behavioral health and developmental challenges to live independently, participate fully in their communities, and achieve their personal goals .
