The specific goals of Supportive Living Services can vary depending on the individual's needs and the program's objectives.

Growth opportunities Casual work attire Safe work environment On-the-job training SLS staff members provide personalized support and assistance to individuals with disabilities or special needs to help them lead independent and fulfilling lives within their communities. They work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop individualized support plans, and provide guidance and support in various aspects of daily living.Responsibilities:
Client Assessment:
Conduct assessments to determine the specific needs, abilities, and goals of each client.Support Planning:
Collaborate with clients and their families or guardians to develop individualized support plans that address their unique needs and aspirations.Daily Living Assistance:
Provide hands-on assistance and guidance in daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and household chores.Skill Development:
Identify areas where clients require skill development and provide coaching and training in areas such as communication, budgeting, time management, and vocational skills.Community Integration:
Assist clients in participating in community activities, accessing local resources, and building social connections. Encourage and support community involvement.Health and Wellness:
Monitor and support clients' physical and mental health needs, including coordinating medical appointments and administering medications as needed.Crisis Intervention:
Be prepared to respond to crises or emergencies and follow established protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress, support plans, and any incidents or interventions.Advocacy:
Advocate for clients' rights and needs, ensuring they have access to appropriate services, resources, and opportunities.Communication:
Maintain open and regular communication with clients, their families or guardians, and other support team members to ensure coordinated care and progress toward goals.Training and Education:
Stay informed about best practices, regulations, and advancements in the field of disability services through ongoing training and professional development.Qualifications:
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Some positions may require additional education or certification in areas such as healthcare, social work, or human services.Experience:
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field is often preferred.Communication:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building positive relationships with clients and their support networks.Compassion:
Empathy and a genuine desire to help others are crucial qualities for success in this role.Flexibility:
SLS staff members must be adaptable and able to respond to changing client needs and situations.Problem-Solving:
