Position Summary The Digital Learning Systems Specialist advances the technical ecosystem that supports high-quality digital and in person learning experiences. This role combines software, systems, and data expertise with a strong commitment to student success. Working at the intersection of instructional design, faculty support, and institutional technology, the Specialist designs and improves scalable systems, optimizes workflows, and contributes to innovation initiatives—including the responsible use of artificial intelligence—to enhance both faculty effectiveness and student learning outcomes. With expertise in technology and systems management, the advisor maintains and troubleshoots university learning platforms and digital tools. Strong collaboration and communication with university departments, including IT, student services, and the registrar's office, ensure effective problem resolution and advocacy for student needs. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Learning Systems Engineering & Operations Design, support, and optimize digital learning systems and workflows (e.g., Softdocs, NeoEd, Monday.com, reporting platforms) Configure, maintain, and automate course lifecycle processes within Brightspace (course setup, integrations, data integrity) Analyze system performance and user workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement scalable improvements Develop scripts, integrations, or lightweight tools (as appropriate) to improve operational efficiency and data flow Support data reporting, compliance, and agreement tracking with a focus on accuracy and usability 2. Course Quality, Data, & Continuous Improvement Lead and systematize OLC course review and evaluation processes using data-informed approaches Implement quality assurance frameworks that improve course usability, accessibility, and consistency for students Analyze student interaction and course data to identify opportunities to enhance engagement and learning outcomes Collaborate with instructional designers to ensure technical implementation aligns with pedagogical intent 3. Faculty Support & Student-Centered Digital Experience Develop and maintain scalable, self-service resources (e.g., MyTaylor, documentation, tutorials) Translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-technical users Support faculty onboarding and ongoing adoption of digital tools that enhance student engagement and success Advocate for system and design improvements based on student and faculty feedback Working with the Digital Learning Specialist, provide technical consultation as needed to faculty on course setup, tools, and platform capabilities with a focus on improving the student experience 4. AI, Innovation, & Emerging Technologies Support the evaluation, prototyping, and implementation of AI tools in teaching, learning, and operations Assist in developing technical and pedagogical resources for faculty use of AI Pilot new technologies and assess their impact on student learning, engagement, and equity Collaborate with campus partners on innovation initiatives, grants, and cross-functional projects Contribute to documentation, scaling strategies, and governance considerations for emerging technologies Typical Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Educational Technology, or a related field Experience with systems integration, data management, or workflow automation preferred Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace) or web-based platforms is a plus Interest in higher education, digital learning environments, and student success Skills and Competencies Strong foundation in problem-solving, systems thinking, and technical troubleshooting Ability to analyze, design, and improve workflows and system processes Experience or interest in scripting, APIs, data analysis, or automation tools Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills Collaborative, adaptable, and oriented toward continuous improvement Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, especially AI and their practical application Demonstrated character and personal faith in Christ Commitment to enhancing the student learning experience through technology 01 Please use this link (https://www.taylor.edu/_docs/about/offices/registrar/undergrad-catalog/foundation.pdf) to navigate to the Taylor University website to review the following documents, which are part of our
