Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Administrator for an on-site role supporting a variety of systems and environments. This position involves working across multiple Unix and Linux platforms in support of diverse operational needs. A strong background in Linux and general Unix systems administration is required. The role includes exposure to different operating systems and environments, with opportunities to broaden technical experience over time. Core Technical Requirements Candidates should have experience in several of the following areas: Command Line & Scripting Proficiency working in Unix/Linux command-line environments Experience with shell scripting (e.g., sh, bash, ksh, or similar) Familiarity with standard text-processing tools (e.g., awk, sed, grep) Storage & Volume Management Experience with volume management technologies (e.g., LVM or similar tools) Knowledge of networked storage concepts (e.g., NFS, i
SCSI, SAN
) General understanding of storage infrastructure and related concepts Operating System Administration Knowledge of system boot processes and service initialization Experience with system patching, updates, and basic security practices Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including routing and firewall configuration Software/package management across Unix/Linux systems Exposure to both current and legacy system environments Basic print service administration where applicable Authentication & Directory Services Familiarity with authentication frameworks (e.g., PAM) Experience with directory services (e.g., LDAP or similar) Integration with centralized identity systems (e.g., directory-based authentication) User and group administration, including permissions management Additional Experience (Optional) Exposure to non-Linux Unix systems or less common operating environments Familiarity with virtualization technologies General networking knowledge beyond basic configuration Experience with shared or distributed storage systems Exposure to mixed-protocol environments (e.g., file sharing across different systems) Responsibilities Provide support for Unix/Linux systems and related infrastructure Perform hands-on system administration and implementation tasks Participate in occasional on-call support as needed Contribute to documentation or knowledge-sharing efforts Maintain and support internal systems used for testing or development Continue developing technical skills across supported platforms
