Job Description

UNCLASSIFIED POSITION LOCATED IN THE DEPARTMENT OF REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS TIME-LIMITED POSITION ENDING 12/29/2026
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in relevant operating systems, programming languages, change control software, data recovery products, or a related field; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in installation, configuration and troubleshooting of operating systems software; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Special Qualifica tion : Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-78, proof of U.S. citizenship is required for employment in the Fulton County Registration and Elections Department.
Specific License or Certification Required:
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities :
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Examination:
The examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. The application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education, and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at the time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform technical support duties in the testing, repairing, preparing, and maintaining inventory of voting machines and equipment. Responsibilities include installing/configuring operating systems, training others on operating systems, conducting diagnostic testing, and resolving software problems.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Performs pre-election Logic & Accuracy Testing to validate functionality and accuracy of voting equipment: scores and records voter intent on computerized voting systems and component items; prepares voting units using Logic and Accuracy procedures; and assists in resolving election equipment software problems. Performs technical inspection and charging of all voting equipment on assigned schedule: utilizes checklist to inspect all voting units for external and internal deficiencies; documents test results; and maintains files as required. Provides technical support to poll workers and election officials on voting equipment; trains others in the use of equipment software; utilizes troubleshooting procedures to solve all issues involving voting equipment; and provides backup to other technical support personnel. Assists in the inventory management control of sensitive and controlled election equipment; establishes and conducts periodic hands-on serial number inventory. Installs and configures mainframe operating systems software. Communicates with Elections Chief, Elections System Supervisor, other employees, third party service contractors, laborers, the public and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Other Requirements:
Physical Ability :
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements :
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
