$110,000 - $125,000 Summary New Venture Research Corporation (NVRC) is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions supporting critical defense programs. The Network Administrator is a mid-level technical professional responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) virtual desktop environment at a fixed facility in the Honolulu, HI area. Working under the direction of the IT Site Lead and in coordination with the Network Engineer, the Network Administrator ensures network availability, performance, and security compliance in accordance with applicable DoD policies, STIGs, and ATO requirements Key Responsibilities Network Operations & Maintenance Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN infrastructure including switches, routers and firewalls. Configure and manage network devices including VLANs, ACLs, routing protocols, and QoS policies in accordance with approved network designs. Perform routine network maintenance including firmware updates, configuration backups, and hardware health checks. Monitor network performance and bandwidth utilization; identify and resolve congestion, latency, and availability issues. Manage and maintain network documentation including topology diagrams, IP address management (IPAM) records, and device inventories. Support network connectivity for up to 275 VDI users, ensuring reliable and performant access to virtual desktop services. Cybersecurity & Compliance Apply and maintain STIGs on all network devices in accordance with DISA guidelines and ATO requirements. Support network-level vulnerability scanning and remediation activities using approved tools (e.g., ACAS/Nessus). Enforce network security policies including port security, access control, and segmentation in accordance with DoD directives. Monitor network logs and traffic for anomalous activity; escalate potential security incidents to the Cybersecurity Engineer and Site Lead. Support audit log collection and retention for network devices in compliance with DoD policies and ATO conditions. Assist with POA&M tracking for network-related findings. Coordination & Support Coordinate with the Network Engineer on infrastructure design changes, upgrades, and capacity planning activities. Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for network-related helpdesk tickets. Coordinate with System Administrators and other team members to troubleshoot cross-functional connectivity issues. Support authorized maintenance windows, change control processes, and network-related change requests. Support exercises and real-world operations that may require extended or surge hours outside normal operating windows (0600-1800 local). Documentation Maintain current and accurate network documentation including device configurations, topology diagrams, and IP address management records. Document network changes in accordance with the configuration management process and support the Configuration Management Specialist. Develop and maintain SOPs for routine network administration tasks. Required Minimum Qualifications Proficiency with enterprise networking technologies including switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs. Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise network hardware and operating systems. Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements including network STIG implementation, RMF, and ACAS scanning. DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II compliance required — CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent) minimum. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve issues in a dynamic operational environment. Preferred Qualifications Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent. Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or equivalent. Familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN) or network automation concepts. Experience with DoD enclaves, classified networks (SIPRNet, NIPRNet), or cross-domain solutions. Experience supporting operational military environments including exercises or real-world operations. Familiarity with eMASS and DoD IA documentation processes. Required Education and Length of Experience Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field A High School Diploma with an additional 2 years of experience above the minimum requirement (5+ years of experience in total) plus at least one relevant technical certification (Security Plus, Network Plus, CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, or other equivalent technical certification) may be substituted for consideration. 3+ years of experience in IT helpdesk or technical support experience, preferably in a DoD or government IT environment Travel Requirements Travel up to 25% may be required. Work Schedule Normal operating hours are 0600-1800 local time. Extended or surge hours may be required in support of exercises or real-world operations. Schedule coordination is managed by the IT Site Lead. This role will begin in July 2026. Candidates must be local to the site ready to begin work at that time.
