Job Description:
Summary Iowa State University Dining Services is seeking a Dining Systems Administrator (Systems Analyst II) to support and enhance the technology that powers dining operations across campus. This role focuses on the development, integration, and ongoing support of enterprise systems that support meal plans, point-of-sale operations, and student-facing services. ISU Dining is a high-volume, multi-unit operation serving students, faculty, and guests across campus. This role will support the large complex University Dining Program encompassing dining and production operations, including residential and retail dining, catering, cafés, convenience operations, commissary and bakery production, warehouse/logistics, procurement, maintenance, IT/menu management, and administrative units. This position plays a key role in ensuring systems function reliably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. From building integrations to troubleshooting issues and supporting users, this role helps keep daily operations running smoothly while also identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems over time. This role requires someone who can take initiative, proactively identify and resolve issues, and adapt quickly as priorities shift. Example of Duties Develop and implement enterprise systems by designing, building, and maintaining functionality within Dining systems, including point-of-sale (POS), mobile applications, and meal plan programming. Deploys, maintains, and troubleshoots systems infrastructure and services including email, storage, and identity and access management. Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. Collects and writes technical requirements for new systems. Modifies, maintains, and updates complex software. Prepares and conducts system and programming tests which may require the interfacing of diverse hardware and software. Reviews potential applications and designs hardware/software interfaces. Implements best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance. Assignments are generally of a difficult technical nature and may involve project leadership activities. Respond to system needs in real time and take ownership of resolving issues from start to finish. Train and guide staff on systems such as POS and CSGold, develop documentation, and support adoption of new processes or system updates. Provide leadership through knowledge sharing, clear communication, and support of team members and end users.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing and supporting end-to-end IT operations within a department, including systems, infrastructure, and user support. Experience developing or implementing enterprise systems, including point-of-sale (POS), campus card systems (such as CBORD/CSGold), or similar platforms. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders, including dining staff, managers, and leadership. Experience developing and delivering custom training programs and documentation tailored to operational workflows (e.g., dining or hospitality environments). Strong desktop support and technical troubleshooting experience, including networking fundamentals, firewall concepts, and supporting multiple user groups.
