Clarificion from the agency Open ATO Wide Duties Help The Airway Transportion Systems Specialist (ATSS) this level is recognized as the subject mter expert in their field. All duties of an ATSS are tied to maintaining safe & efficient opering capacity of the vast & complex network of electronics systems required for the world's largest air traffic control & navigion system. The Operions area serves as a principal organizional element of the Technical Operions Organizional to plan, direct, coordine, monitor, and accomplish activities associed with real-time management of assigned NAS systems/facilities the service integrity level. Reports to the Service Operions Center Manager. ATSS personnel install, evalue, maintain, modify and certify facilities, services and equipment th support the Nional Airspace System (NAS). They are also responsible for various duties th contribute to providing reliable & safe FAA services to the flying public. Performs a variety of functions directly reling to the operions of the NAS. Focus is on the availability and reliability of the services and products provided to users of the NAS. Recognized as the principal technical specialist on legacy and newly developed systems within a large facility or multiple facilities over a large geographical area. Responsible for the planning, directing, coordining, monitoring, and maintenance activities associed with the management of assigned NAS systems/facilities. Performs work of broad scope and complexity with a high degree of independence. Applies broad experience and comprehensive technical knowledge to maintain and protect the Integrity and safety of all components and systems for the NAS service delivery. Provides the highest organizion level of technical support associed with analyzing, installing, repairing, fabricing, maintaining, modifying, or evaluing the most complex systems for which the FAA is responsible. Plans, coordines and performs work with a high degree of independence, keeping the supervisor advised only of the most critical issues. Resolves unique technical problems without managerial intervention, providing coordinion and suggested solutions. Rapidly analyzes and seeks resolution to problems as they arise, and makes adjustments as necessary to deal with system outages and network performance deteriorion. Inities action for the timely repair or restorion of services and systems, taking into account the availability of back-up systems, possible reconfigurions to minimize service interruptions, and the relive criticality of particular functions to the safe and efficient operion of the NAS. Incumbent is responsible for timely upward reporting of NAS informion th could have an impact to operions for purposes of Situion Awareness (i.e.
NOTAM, SAL

Integre Operional Risk Management (ORM) into restorion, schedule maintenance activities, and all planned projects, ensuring th all customers and users of services are included and involved in ORM implemention and planning.
