Welding Automation System Specialist

Job Summary The Welding Automation System Specialist is responsible for set-up, programming and operation of robotic welding systems to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable production of high‑quality weldments. This role supports the production teams through troubleshooting and providing technical expertise in robotic welding automation systems and part fixturing. Continuously drives process improvement while upholding quality, safety and operational standards. Responsibilities Program and proof 1st article weldments using ABB Controllers. Welding according to appropriate procedures, meeting production rates. Maintain rigorous quality standards, performing visual inspections to ensure 100% conformance to engineering specifications and welding symbols. Optimize weld paths and cycle times to ensure repeatable, high-quality production of heavy-duty components. Integrate and troubleshoot robotic welding cells, providing the technical expertise required to resolve complex automation issues. Partner with the production team to transfer technical knowledge and implement best practices for robotic machine operation. Perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs on robot-driven equipment to minimize downtime. Collaborate with leadership teams and vendors to stay current on technical manuals and ensure project coverage. Qualifications A minimum of 3+ years of hands-on robotic welding experience; a robot welding certification is strongly preferred. Proficiency with ABB controllers. Experience with other controllers and offline programming a plus. Strong understanding of MIG welding processes and the ability to read blueprints and pass an internal weld/inspection test. Capability to take a new fixture and create a repeatable fabrication path from the ground up. Motivated to find a better way. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Machine shop environment which includes exposure to moving parts, heat, noise, dust, industrial solvents, liquids and other materials. Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs repeatedly and wearing the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary to comply with company safety policies. This position requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, twisting and gripping. Hours of Work Monday - Thursday 6am to 4pm
