Job Description
Genesis10 is currently seeking a Linux Automation Engineer / Database Infrastructure Engineer for a hybrid position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Automation Engineer with strong expertise in infrastructure automation, scripting, and database administration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting Linux environments, developing automation solutions using Python, Perl, or Shell scripting, and managing enterprise-grade relational database systems such as Oracle and SQL Server. This role will focus on improving operational efficiency, automating system processes, and supporting mission-critical database and infrastructure platforms.
Responsibilities:
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux environments across development, testing, and production platforms
Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using Python, Perl, Shell, or Bash scripting to streamline operational processes and reduce manual effort
Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform for cloud and on-premises infrastructure provisioning
Develop automation workflows for system deployment, configuration management, monitoring, patching, andpliance activities
Support and optimize Oracle and SQL Server database environments, ensuring performance, availability, and reliability
Perform database administration tasks including backup and recovery, performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting
Create and maintain database scripts, stored procedures, and automation routines for operational support
Collaborate with application, DevOps, infrastructure, and database teams to implement scalable and resilient solutions
Monitor system and database health, proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks
Document system architectures, operational procedures, automation frameworks, and database configurations
Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and production support activities
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
5 years of experience in Linux system administration and infrastructure support
Strong experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
Advanced scripting and automation expertise using Python, Perl, Shell, or Bash
Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, system services, networking, and security concepts
Strong experience working with relational database management systems (RDBMS), including Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with database performance tuning, SQL query optimization, backup/recovery, and database maintenance
Knowledge of version control systems such as Git
Experience troubleshootingplex infrastructure and database issues in production environments
Strong analytical, problem-solving, andmunication skills
Desired skills:
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK
Experience supporting high-availability and disaster recovery environments
Oracle DBA and/or Linux administration certifications are a plus
Pay range: $55.13 - $63.13 per hour
