Job Summary:
The Library Systems Specialist provides technology support for library computers, student printing, and technologies throughout the library as well as contribute to the creative integration of library systems, including: Manage, support, and troubleshoot Health Sciences Library staff computers, servers, printers, and departmental equipment, including setup, updates, backups, security and operating system patches. In collaboration with team members, contribute to the support and integration of library enterprise systems, including Alma and ILLiad, the library's web presence, and other systems. Manage technology inventory and coordinate the replacement, refreshment, and purchasing of Library computers, printers, peripherals, and staff software. Primary support for and management of student printing and scanning services within the library. Create, maintain, and contribute to documentation of Library supported systems and department workflows. Work with campus Information Management and Technology to remain current with campus supported applications and security protocols as well as resolve issues. Provide technical support and assistance to both Library staff and patrons. Collaborate on and contribute to department and Library projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years experience, or associate's degree and 4 years of related experience. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to identify, analyze, and creatively solve problems; ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at various levels of technical proficiency required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an academic or health sciences library preferred. Experience deploying and maintaining hardware preferred. Experience with multiple operating systems preferred. Experience managing printers and print management software preferred. Experience managing printers and print management software preferred. Experience in APIs, scripting, or web programming (HTML/CSS, PHP, Python, Javascript, etc.) preferred. Knowledge of library systems including Alma, ILLiad, ArchivesSpace, and Springshare Suite preferred.
