Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Learning Systems Administrator supports the effective use, administration, and ongoing development of the institution's Learning Management System and related teaching and learning technologies. The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the LMS, including course setup, user support, troubleshooting, reporting, and documentation.
Responsibilities:
LMS Administration & Support Lead the administration and support of Utica University's learning management system. Manages routine LMS operations, including course creation, course copies, enrollments, user access, term setup, and course availability. Provides direct support to faculty and students experiencing LMS-related issues. Work with hosted LMS support providers to address technical concerns, system updates, and service requests. Assist with LMS integrations and connected tools, such web conferencing, proctoring, accessibility, VoiceThread, Panopto, or other instructional technology tools. Assist with LMS reporting, data requests, course usage reports, training completion reports, and other system-related reports. Create and maintain LMS documentation, help guides, FAQs, and internal procedures. Responds to help-desk tickets related to the LMS and other technologies used in the teaching and learning process. Teaching and Learning Technology Support Support faculty and students in the use of teaching and learning technologies used across the institution. Support workshops, demonstrations, and training sessions as needed. Creates instructional design and technology content for the institution's website in collaboration with the web development team. Collaboration Collaborates with other departments on campus and serves as an instructional technology consultant to the entire instructional design and technology team. Is the primary contact for technical applications such as the learning management system, web conferencing, proctoring, accessibility, VoiceThread, Panopto, or other instructional technology tools. Assessment and Evaluation Actively participates in the department's/division's ongoing assessment processes, as required by the unit's supervisor or assessment coordinator. Other Participate in assigned committee(s). Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Master's degree in instructional technology, or related field preferred. Experience working directly with educational technology in an academic setting is preferred. Experience with Moodle or another enterprise Learning Management System is preferred Experience with tools such as Microsoft Teams, VoiceThread Panopto, Turnitin, ProctorU, or similar academic technologies is preferred.
Skills/Abilities:
Must communicate to various levels of technical expertise, from beginner to advanced users. Must have excellent communication skills. Should have multimedia design and production skills. Should have working knowledge of copyright policies and intellectual property rights. Must be willing and able to work evening and weekend hours as required during peak periods of academic activity and be on call regularly.
