Job Description:
e&e is seeking a Device42 Administrator for a hybrid contract opportunity in Harrisburg, PA! We are seeking a skilled Device42 Administrator to support the configuration, optimization, and ongoing administration of enterprise asset discovery and dependency mapping tools, with a strong preference for experience managing Device42. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate infrastructure data, ensuring full-stack visibility across complex environments, and supporting operational teams through reporting, monitoring, and dependency mapping. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of discovery technologies, IT asset lifecycle management, infrastructure protocols, and systems integrations. This position will also partner closely with enterprise logging and monitoring teams to improve operational insight and service reliability.
Responsibilities:
Configure, administer, and maintain IT device/application discovery and dependency mapping tools, preferably Device42. Create, manage, and optimize discovery jobs across mixed infrastructure environments including physical, virtual, network, and cloud resources. Ensure full-stack visibility and accurate dependency mapping to support impact analysis and root cause investigations. Maintain data accuracy, eliminate duplicate records, and remediate discovery discrepancies. Tune and optimize scanning performance for reliability and efficiency. Perform upgrades, patching, vulnerability remediation, and platform maintenance activities. Troubleshoot system issues, discovery failures, and tool performance problems. Configure and manage identity and access roles for the toolset. Monitor software licensing compliance and usage. Design and implement monitoring, alerting, dashboards, reports, and device/dependency maps to meet business needs. Develop end-user procedures, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Integrate discovery tools with external systems such as ITSM platforms, CMDBs, and reporting solutions. Collaborate with logging and monitoring teams to enhance enterprise observability and service management capabilities.
Requirements:
Hands-on experience administering asset discovery and dependency mapping tools, preferably Device42. Strong experience creating and managing discovery jobs in complex enterprise environments. Solid understanding of IT Asset Lifecycle Management processes. Working knowledge of infrastructure protocols such as SSH, SNMP, and WMI. Proven ability to map dependencies across servers, networks, applications, storage, and virtual platforms. Experience with upgrades, patching, troubleshooting, and system remediation activities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data integrity. Ability to create user documentation, training materials, and technical procedures. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience integrating with ITSM, CMDB, or reporting platforms such as EasyVista. Experience creating custom discovery patterns and workflows. Strong knowledge of monitoring and alerting best practices. Familiarity with interpreting vulnerability data from Tenable Nessus and developing remediation plans. Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as PRTG, Prometheus, Grafana, Pingdom, Instana, or Microsoft Sentinel. Experience supporting enterprise logging, monitoring, or infrastructure operations teams.
