Job Description
Wilkes University is pleased to announce an opening for a Network Specialist in the Information Technology Services Department. This position supports the University's technology infrastructure by ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing network services that meet the academic, administrative, and operational needs of the campus community. The successful candidate will be responsible for Wi-Fi optimization and troubleshooting; configuring firewalls, routing, and switching to maximize network security and efficiency; monitoring network performance and identifying potential bottlenecks or security threats; supporting network connectivity and user authentication; documenting network configurations and changes; and overseeing troubleshooting, updates, and upgrades of network devices. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively within a cohesive team environment. A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is preferred, along with at least three years of directly related experience. The ideal candidate will have experience with LAN/WAN environments, Cisco-based networks, Aruba wireless and switching systems, Fortinet Firewalls, Windows and Linux enterprise server management, Active Directory, and enterprise network security practices.
