Vertical Shift Consulting is a growing IT Software Advisory firm. We have a client in need of a Cloud Systems Administrator. This is a great opportunity for an up and coming IT administrator or a more experienced Azure professional. You will leverage your expertise in cloud infrastructure to create scalable, efficient, and secure applications. Your work will directly impact our ability to deliver seamless digital experiences, optimize IT infrastructure, and support our company's growth in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for energetic problem-solvers passionate about technology and eager to contribute to impactful projects using a variety of programming languages and frameworks. The position of Cloud Systems Administrator will report to the Director of Development. Primary Responsibilities of Cloud Systems Administrator
Monitor, maintain, and support Azure environments to ensure performance, reliability, and availability
Perform cost analysis on Azure environments and support optimization of resource usage
Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Azure resources, including App Services, SQL Server, storage, and networking
Assist with infrastructure changes, including migrations, reconfigurations, and environment setup
Administer Microsoft 365 services, including user management, access control, and Exchange online support
Apply security best practices across Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
Support configurations aligned with security and compliance requirements (e.
g. Fed
RAMP, NIST
)
Maintain clear technical documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures
Assist with other IT admin tasks as assigned Desired Skills and Experience Experience in cloud, system administration, or infrastructure support roles Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including App Services, Application Gateways, VMs, storage, and basic networking Experience administering Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online and user/access management Familiarity with Azure core management and monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or similar) Basic understanding of Azure networking, identity, and access management (RBAC, MFA, least privilege) SQL Server and SSMS experience for basic querying and troubleshooting Experience with Azure DevOps and working in Agile/Scrum teams or environments Strong troubleshooting and communication skills Education and Work History • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical academic background with field experience • Three or more years of working experience as a primary system administrator or cloud roles, with hands-on responsibility for supporting cloud-based environments • Experience working in Azure Government or other regulated cloud environments is a plus • Microsoft Azure certification such as Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) and/or Azure Administrator (AZ-104) are a plus Experience working on software systems supporting energy assistance or similar public-sector programs preferred but not required
