Job Title:
Electrical CAD Systems Administrator Job Description The Electrical CAD Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, supporting, and optimizing a suite of electrical CAD applications used for PCB design and data management. This role ensures the stable operation, high performance, and strong adoption of Cadence ECAD tools across engineering teams. The position involves onboarding and training new users, troubleshooting complex tool issues, maintaining parts libraries and data structures, and driving the development of best practices and standards. Responsibilities Administer Cadence ECAD tools including System Capture, Allegro Layout, Pulse, EDM, and CIP. Onboard and train new users in using ECAD tools. Troubleshoot and resolve complex tool issues. Maintain parts libraries and data structures to ensure consistency. Develop and implement best practices, standards, templates, and custom interfaces. Collaborate with IT for upgrades, deployments, integrations, and system architecture initiatives. Support major transformations such as migrating to System Capture and Allegro X, and enhancing
ECAD-MCAD
interoperability. Prepare for future integrations with enterprise PLM platforms. Strengthen engineering productivity through reliable tool ecosystems and scalable workflow improvements. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience. 4+ years of experience with Cadence PCB design tools administration. Needs Allegro. Ideally has OrCAD as well. Strong understanding of PCB design workflows, symbols, footprints, constraints, and release processes. Experience supporting electrical engineers in a product development environment. Ability to create documentation, standards, and training content. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and user-support skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities across engineering and IT stakeholders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with mechanical interchange formats (IDX/IDF) is a plus. Knowledge of electrical panel or wiring design tools (EPLAN or similar) preferred. Work Environment The role is based in a collaborative environment with daily interaction across hardware engineering, mechanical design, and IT teams. The position typically follows standard business hours with flexibility based on project needs and is primarily onsite or hybrid, depending on engineering lab access and tool administration requirements. Regular cross-functional meetings and user support touchpoints are part of the role, alongside a mix of independent system ownership and collaborative project execution Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Westborough, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $81.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
