Job Description We offer a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities. After initial training in-person, this specific role could have the flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week. Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a mainframe systems administrator. The ideal candidate would have experience with z/OS systems software installation, maintenance and administration with experience in the role of team leader or project coordinator. The position requires the following, but is not limited to: Defining and programming software routines using established mainframe programming languages. Installing and/or maintaining vendor supplied software packages using SMP/E. Providing technical support to applications programming and other support areas in the use of systems software. Debugging problems where systems software may be involved. Changing operating system settings/options to support business needs and to optimize performance. Assisting in developing and recommending standards and best practices in the use of systems software. Desired Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Coursework with emphasis in computer science techniques is also preferred. The individual should have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work with people in a team environment. Ability to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas verbally and in writing. Willingness to work occasionally outside the normal business hours. Experience in CICS installation/administration preferred.
