Job Description
A Service Technician in the Residential Audio‑Video (AV) industry is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting home technology systems. Installation & Setup Install and configure equipment such as TVs, projectors, speakers, amplifiers, AV receivers, control systems, and networking hardware. Ensure wiring, mounting, and system layout follow industry standards and project specifications. 2. Troubleshooting & Service Calls Act as the primary technician responding to service requests. Diagnose and correct issues with media systems, audio feeds, video distribution, and control systems. Identify defective equipment and manage Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs). 3. System Testing & Quality Control Test all equipment to ensure proper signal flow and performance. Perform firmware updates and routine maintenance to keep systems secure and stable. Conduct quarterly or scheduled maintenance visits. 4. Client Interaction & Support Communicate clearly with homeowners to understand issues and explain solutions. Train end users on how to operate their AV systems and control interfaces. Maintain professionalism and build strong customer relationships. 5. Documentation & Inventory Record serial numbers, warranties, system configurations, and service notes. Track inventory, replacement parts, and equipment condition.
