About Karhu Cyber Karhu Cyber is a veteran-owned cybersecurity and managed services firm. We protect and operate the technology that our clients rely on every day, courts, sheriff's offices, registers of deeds, IT departments, and the staff who serve communities across the state. We are hiring a Systems Administrator I based in Houghton to support clients across the Upper Peninsula. You will work alongside senior engineers, take on a steady stream of real client work, and grow into a broader role over time. What You Will Do You will handle day-to-day support and administration of client environments under the direction of senior staff. Specific responsibilities will flex based on client need, but generally include: Supporting Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune environments (user provisioning, license management, basic policy work) Assisting with Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms (Hyper-V and VMware) Helping operate firewall platforms and MFA across client environments Monitoring backup jobs and assisting with recovery operations Working tickets to resolution, escalating cleanly when something is outside your depth Working on-site locally on an as-needed basis Documenting your work so the next person can pick it up without guessing Client environments vary, so curiosity and a willingness to learn new platforms quickly matter more than deep expertise in any one product. Who You Are 1 to 3 years of hands-on IT or systems administration experience, or a strong technical foundation from coursework, certifications, and home lab work Familiar with the Microsoft ecosystem and comfortable troubleshooting Windows, networking basics, and common business applications You ask good questions, take notes, and apply what you learn You communicate clearly with non-technical users and treat people with respect, especially when they are frustrated You take ownership and enjoy solving hard problems. Requirements Must pass a CJIS background check. This role works inside criminal justice information environments. Valid driver's license Eligible to work in the U.S. One or more entry-level certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft MS-900 or AZ-900) or equivalent demonstrated skill Growth Path From L1 you have a clear path to L2 systems administration and beyond, into L3 systems engineering or a specialty track in security operations, cloud, or network. Karhu pays for the certs and training that get you there. Compensation and Benefits $55,000 to $68,000 base, depending on experience and certifications $5,000 per year continuing education and certification budget Health, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) Hybrid schedule with on-site work locally on an as-needed basis
