Job Summary KBR is seeking a highly motivated Simulation Technician / System Administrator to support military training events and exercises for the Army's Joint Training Program - Air and Missile Defense (JTP-AMD) Simulation Center. The
JTP-AMD SIM
Center operates as a government facility located at Fort Bliss, supporting simulation requirements across multiple international theaters as well as various government facilities throughout the United States. This position requires travel approximately 20-30% annually. The selected candidate must be capable of performing duties associated with Air and Missile Defense Modeling and Simulation in support of U.S. military exercises and training operations. Comprehensive training on the applicable simulation systems and equipment will be provided. (Existing basic computer skills required for simulation training.) The role encompasses the comprehensive planning, design, integration, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of information systems, associated software applications, and communication links to ensure optimal performance and maximum system availability within a simulated training environment. Highly qualified candidates will possess demonstrated experience with PATRIOT Air and/or Missile Defense systems, along with foundational knowledge in Information Technology (IT) and System. Roles and Responsibilities Collaborate with exercise planners, simulation operators, and Mission Command Information System (MCIS) users to ensure seamless interoperability during distributed training events. Lead simulation execution efforts by troubleshooting federates, managing databases, and validating accurate exercise configurations across multiple locations. Perform entry-level System Administrator duties in support of all simulation systems. Integrate simulation drivers and tactical data links with tactical equipment and Patriot Air Defense Systems. Provide technical and operational support for the Flight Mission Simulator Digital (FMSD) (training provided). Provide technical and operational support for the Reconfigurable Table Top Trainer (RT3) (training provided). Install and configure new or modified hardware, operating systems, and application software. Execute system integration, testing, configuration, and maintenance activities for simulation and network systems. Perform scenario scripting using modeling and simulation drivers (training provided). Diagnose and resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability issues. Deliver real-time technical support during military training events and exercises. Troubleshoot, resolve, and document information system hardware and software incidents. Develop detailed written reports supporting technical operations for simulated training events and exercises. Interface directly with government customers as part of an integrated technical support team. Inventory, package, and transport information systems and associated components to distributed training locations. Support overseas travel requirements of approximately 20-30% annually. Perform additional duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications BS Degree with 2+ years of experience OR an additional 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree Applicant must obtain CompTIA Security+ CE Certification within 6 months of employment (required by US Army to be an administrator). Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance which requires US Citizenship before starting employment
Preferred Qualifications CompTIA Certifications:
A+, Network+, Linux+, and CCNA are a plus. BS Degree in an IT related field is preferred, but experience and specialized training in lieu of a technical degree may be acceptable. 8+ years of military experience, preferably in PATRIOT Air and Missile Defense (140A/E desired) 4+ years working in an IT related environment (System / Network Administration is a plus) Belong, Connect and Grow at KBR At KBR, we are passionate about our people and our Zero Harm culture.
