Job Description

Primary Purpose:
Administer and operate the district's central administrative computer networks. Develop, maintain, and monitor all district local area networks (LAN), wireless local area networks (WLAN), and wide area networks (WAN). Responsible for installation, testing, and oversight of all network hardware, personal computers, software, and related equipment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in computer science or an equivalent field required Certifications in related field such as MCSE, Network+, Security+ or equivalent preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of LAN, LWAN, and WAN network design and installation Knowledge of network hardware and software applications including network servers, printers, and other equipment Knowledgeable of network infrastructure components and applications. This includes desktop and server operating systems, authentication methods, network topologies, security and other related network focused systems and protocols. Ability to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols Ability to analyze and resolve computer network problems. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Network Management Perform all network duties as assigned. Provide assistance as needed to the Network Services team. Provide assistance in design, planning, project management, implementation, deployment, and support of network service elated software and hardware technologies utilized in the district. Maintain and support all LAN/WAN based network components which include but is not limited to the following: Network devices and components Network elated audio visual systems Storage systems Backup systems Security systems both physical and network related File and print systems Other network appliances Network physical media and components Manage technical projects through from start to completion while guiding and utilizing execution team resources. Act as Network Team first point of contact in on-call and after-hours situations. Technical Support Perform diagnosis as well as repair of all network related problems that arise regarding any
LAN/MAN/WAN
based technology. Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to junior members of Network Services team. Act as Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for network issues when appropriate. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities None Evaluation Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 44 pounds), may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over)
Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment; frequent on-call and afterhours work; occasional districtwide travel; may be required to be on-call 24 hours a day

Salary Range Min. $84,560 Mid. $99,433 Max. $114,303 (Based on previous experience) Salaries are determined by the number of completed and eligible years of service at an accredited school. Salary is based on 235 days. If working less than 235 days, the salary will be less.
