This role leads a small crew on service calls, manages daily job execution from start to finish, and serves as the primary point of contact with building owners and facility managers in the field. The Lead Tech is expected to set the standard for workmanship, safety, and professionalism on every job. Key Responsibilities Field Operations Diagnose roof leaks and deficiencies across multiple roofing systems including TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, built-up roofing (BUR), metal, and coatings Perform high-quality repairs including seam repairs, flashing replacement, drain clearing and repair, penetration sealing, blister repairs, and membrane patching Lead 2-3 person service crews; delegate tasks, set the work pace, and ensure quality throughout the job Complete work orders accurately and thoroughly, including photos, materials used, and recommendations for follow-up work Communicate findings and completed work directly to customers on-site; explain conditions clearly and professionally Identify and document additional deficiencies observed during service visits and provide information to the service manager for quoting Safety & Compliance Enforce and follow all OSHA safety requirements, company safety policies, and fall protection protocols Conduct pre-job safety briefings and ensure all crew members are using appropriate PPE Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite at all times Equipment & Materials Properly load, operate, and maintain service vehicles, tools, and equipment Manage and track material usage on each job; minimize waste Notify service manager of low stock or equipment maintenance needs Leadership & Training Mentor and develop helper(s) assigned to the crew Model professional communication, craftsmanship standards, and a strong work ethic Provide feedback to service manager on helper performance Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of hands-on commercial roofing experience, with at least 2 years in a service/repair role Demonstrated proficiency with a minimum of two commercial roofing systems (e.g., TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal) Ability to read and interpret building drawings, roof plans, and work orders Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a company vehicle OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) Comfort working at heights, on ladders, and in all weather conditions Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Preferred OSHA 30 certification Manufacturer certifications (Carlisle, GAF, Firestone, Versico, or similar) Experience with infrared scanning or moisture detection tools Prior crew lead or supervisory experience Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts Prolonged periods of kneeling, crouching, bending, and working in confined or low-pitch areas Exposure to heat, cold, and outdoor elements throughout the year Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience Company vehicle and fuel card Paid time off and holidays Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Manufacturer and safety training opportunities
