Job Description

PL POSITION OVERVIEW
: Under the direction of the Technology Systems Manager, this position maintains and supports in-house and vendor-supported computers, phones, and computer application programs; responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of all City-owned desktop and laptop computer systems and directly connected peripherals. Additional responsibilities will include network and telephone cable installation and repair, troubleshooting all technology-related issues, application support, and user training. Work is performed with considerable latitude for the use of independent judgment and initiative
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Not all functions are performed routinely, but could be required of the position at any time. Provide excellent customer service while supporting a diverse municipal workforce. Provide tier 1 troubleshooting and maintenance for city systems and servers. Review tickets daily and work to resolve open tickets assigned to the technician based on priority. Update records to reflect the progress and completion of any resolution. Monitors endpoint environments for potential vulnerabilities, threats, and unauthorized activity. User account creation and management for all city systems and applications. Use, create, and update Standard Operating Procedures and documentation for systems worked on. Prepare equipment for deployment according to established procedures. Install equipment at designated locations. Complete periodic preventative maintenance on equipment, including cleaning, management of software updates, physical inspection of equipment for damage, and review of system logs. Works closely with users, vendors, and the IT team to assess application feasibility and implement solutions. Periodically audit inventory records for accuracy and update as needed. Organize the storage of equipment, components,s and software. Regularly review available and emerging technology related to desktop and laptop PCs. Make recommendations to the IT Manager based on analysis. Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge Experience managing and supporting current Microsoft operating systems and applications. Experience supporting and troubleshooting desktop and laptop systems and hardware. Understanding of network infrastructure security and related best practices. Knowledge of training techniques and strategies for the dissemination of complex written and verbal information to a wide range of individuals, including the City Council and members of the public. Abilities Ability to work with users in stressful situations and communicate with them to resolve their issues efficiently or escalate the issue to the next level to get it resolved. Ability to form queries, create views, and perform other related tasks to perform data analysis, create support call investigations, and interact with a variety of vendors' technical support. Ability to follow and understand complex verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive documents and materials. Ability to exhibit good judgment in making decisions in accordance with regulations and rules. Policies, laws, and ordinances Education High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience One (1) year of experience in information technology or a related field. Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and skills to efficiently perform the duties of the job.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will have the following: Valid Washington State Driver's License Technical/professional certification in information technology or a related area.
