Various Sites Job Summary:
Each summer, the Information Systems department hires Student Interns for the upcoming summer months. The internship experience gives students an opportunity to engage in learning while utilizing technical skills in a work environment. Do not apply for this position unless: You were told to do so by your internship coordinator or Human Resources and you are a current Mesa Public Schools CTE Student.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, troubleshoot and upgrade desktop computer hardware, personal computers and peripheral equipment, and perform related work as required for the information systems department Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and
Mesa Public Schools Required Qualifications:
Currently an MPS student Classroom or lab experience assembling, disassembling, or troubleshooting computers. Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and software installation
Skills & Competencies:
Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community Demonstrated interest in technology and problem-solving Identifying and assembling components (CPU, RAM, hard drive, etc.) Installing operating systems, drivers, and applications Diagnosing and resolving common hardware and software issues
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Work setting will be in the school IT department office, computer repair shops, library, and classrooms Supervised by IT staff or instructors, often working in small teams Learning-focused environment, often involving mentoring or job-shadowing May be required to travel between different rooms or departments (especially in schools) Sitting or standing for extended periods (e.g., at desks or workbenches) Occasional lifting or moving of equipment (usually under 25 pounds)
