Immediately Job Description Houston County Board of Education Job Description Classified Positions Job Title Technology Support Technician Job Code _445____ Department/Location School Nutrition Program FLSA Status _Non Exempt_ Reports To Director of Date January 11, 2005 School Nutrition Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement. This position supports the curriculum by providing and maintaining network computer resources in support of both instructional and administrative uses of computer related technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as an advisor to school staff for general technical issues. Provides basic on-going first-line technical support to school staff and students. Troubleshoots and repairs minor computer and peripheral equipment problems/issues. Supports school users with network access issues and reset passwords as needed. Installs and customizes new computers with site-based software/drivers; upgrades/updates software as needed. Provides logistical support for new computers and peripherals (physical setup & placement). Documents all work performed and enters requests for new services from the school in the district work order software application. Maintains technology inventory records for the school. Prepares and supports technology for online testing. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or
Experience:
Two years technical college, or equivalent, in Information Technology with emphasis in technical support and computer maintenance, or equivalent work experience. Five years experience with local and wide area network support is preferred.
Certificate or License Required:
Industry relevant certifications preferred (i.e. Network +), a valid Georgia Driver's license is required.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, and correspondence. Ability to write professional correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to facilitate the problem-solving process. Ability to synthesize workable options from given facts and assist in the development of workable solutions to address concerns.
Technical Ability:
Good knowledge of the troubleshooting and operation of computer hardware and common software applications such as Microsoft Office; thorough knowledge of methods and techniques used to maintain and repair computer equipment; ability to carry-out maintenance plans and repair schedules for technical resources; knowledge of the ticket tracking application.
Customer Service Skills:
Must be capable of interacting effectively with administrators, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and the general public using tactful and helpful customer service.
Physical Demands:
Minimal physical demands are required. Reasonable accommodations are made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and lift. Often, the employee must use hands, reach with hands and arms, crouch or kneel. The employee must be able to exert or lift up to 50 pounds.
