Technology Support Specialist

Desktop Support Supervisor/Team Leader
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent, plus some additional specialized training 3-5 years experience required in technology support, with significant knowledge and particular expertise in Windows operating systems. Strong trouble-shooting and problem solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including good business etiquette using electronic mail and phone skills and responding in a professional and timely manner.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Facilitates students and staff in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning environment in which students can take full advantage of technology as an instructional tool. Provides first level support for classroom and administrative computer hardware, software, network, audio visual, and peripheral problems. Provides assistance to staff and faculty in the utilization of the hardware and software. This position is responsible for monitoring the security and integrity of the student computer labs as well as student and staff laptops and desktops, completes all maintenance (including software/hardware upgrades), inventory management, computer hardware repair including printer maintenance and cleaning of computer hardware. Coordinates support and maintenance of computers, projectors, document cameras, smart boards, telephones, printers, and other building-based technologies and peripherals.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Provides first level support for all school based technologies including computers, network, phone and hardware/software/audio visual. 2. Software (applications) support
  • install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, removal, preventative maintenance, deployment and provide assistance to users in accessing software. 3. Ensure computers have up-to-date virus protection, monitoring for virus alerts, and performing cleanup on compromised systems. 4. Hardware support
  • install, maintain, upgrade, troubleshoot, removal, preventative maintenance, deployment, repair and replacement, recycle, computers, printers, scanners, audio visual and assembly. 5. Deploy customized operating system images based on different software requirements. 6. Data Management support
  • recovery of files; conversions; back up of files. 7. Support users on how to use Outlook for messaging; calendaring; resource use, and troubleshooting basic email problem. 8. Network support
  • provide assistance with switches, cables, patching and troubleshooting.
9. Inventory management. 10. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. 11. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 12. Performs other duties as may be necessary and assigned by the school Principals, Assistant Principals, teachers, support staff, or Director of Technology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Newly hired employees will be placed on the ESP Salary Scale based on prior work experience that can be verified, that is recent (within the last ten years without an extended break in employment), and in a position of similar responsibilities. Benefits as determined and approved annually by the Board of Education.
