Job Description
Decom Technician, ADC InfraOps Decom
DescriptionThe Decommissioning Team is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed off premises. Team members will also process large volumes of customer media to ensure that all customer media is sanitized and properly managed. Accountability of equipment throughout the process is vital for the security of sensitive information, and trust of our customers.
Technicians will be working in a team environment not only with other members of the team, but also from other teams and must be able to communicate and promote cross-team functionality.
Amazon Data Centers protect customer data with utmost vigilance, and selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without fault and ad to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensures customer data is protected and properly handled.

- Improve effectiveness through process innovationThis position will primarily be based out of Jessup, MD but the candidate selected must be able travel to multiple sites located in Laurel, MD and Severn, MD as needed.
Key job responsibilitiesYou will be required to engage in physical data center activities with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes all tasks associated with planning and tracking capacity, rack deployment, rack cabling, hardware and software troubleshooting, and rack decommissioning.
These activities include the following
- Lifting and moving material up to 49 pounds each
- Working in cramped and/or elevated locations
- Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
- Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
- Work in a noisy environment
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts, weekend, and holidays).

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with PolygraphPreferred Qualifications
