: The Computer Hardware Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and support of district technology hardware, including desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, printers, and peripheral devices. This role also supports the installation and troubleshooting of district technology infrastructure such as large display panels, security cameras, and data cabling. The technician ensures that all student and staff devices are operational, properly configured, and aligned with district standards. This position works closely with the Help Desk, Systems team, and building-based technicians to resolve hardware-related issues in a timely and efficient manner. In addition, this role serves as a backup to the Technology Operations Administrator (TOA) and provides support across district buildings as needed. The technician helps maintain device inventory accuracy, supports helpdesk operations, and ensures consistent device assignment practices for students and staff. This position requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage large-scale device deployments in a K-12 environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, maintain accurate records, and support district technology initiatives including device rollouts, testing readiness, and classroom technology integration.QUALIFICATIONS
: The selected candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications: Associate degree in computer technology or equivalent experience required Minimum of two (2) years of experience in computer hardware repair and support Experience supporting Windows, ChromeOS, and/or macOS devices Knowledge of computer hardware components, imaging, and device configuration Experience with device management systems such as Google Admin Console, Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and Jamf preferred Ability to diagnose and repair hardware issues including screens, keyboards, batteries, and internal components Understanding of basic physical infrastructure, including mounting displays, installing or repairing network jacks, and installing security cameras Basic knowledge of networking concepts and structured cabling practices Ability to work collaboratively and document work clearly within a ticketing system Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, patience, and initiative Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks Willingness to learn new technologies and remain current with evolving hardware trends Ability to complete required training and obtain relevant certificationsMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Diagnose, repair, and maintain student and staff devices, including laptops, desktops, and Chromebooks Perform hardware replacements such as screens, batteries, keyboards, memory, and storage devices Image and configure computers for deployment using district-approved tools and processes Assist with large-scale device deployments, collections, and inventory management Maintain accurate inventory records of devices, parts, and equipment Troubleshoot peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and interactive displays Provide first- and second-level hardware support Coordinate with vendors for warranty repairs and parts replacement Adhere to district technology standards for hardware and configuration Serve as backup support for the Technology Operations Administrator (TOA) Provide support and coverage for building-based technicians across the district Assist with setup and support of devices for standardized testing Support classroom technology, including projectors, document cameras, and display panels Install, maintain, and troubleshoot public address (PA), clock, and security camera systems Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling in accordance with district standards Assist with basic network infrastructure tasks, including patching, labeling, and maintaining IDF/MDF closets Maintain a clean and organized workspace for repairs and equipment storage Document all work performed in the district ticketing system Assist with recycling and proper disposal of outdated technology equipment Provide basic user support and guidance on device care and usage Participate in district technology training sessions as directed Support district technology initiatives and deployments Assist users with general technology issues reported to the helpdesk Occasionally work evenings or weekends for large deployments or urgent repairs Perform other duties as assignedPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to push carts and transport equipment between buildings. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when installing or servicing equipment (e.g., cabling, projectors, cameras). Manual dexterity to use hand tools, power tools, and perform detailed hardware repairs. Ability to work in confined spaces such as under desks, in ceilings, and in IDF/MDF network closets.
