As an e-Stewards, R2v3, NAID AAA, and ISO certified processor, we provide secure data destruction, certified refurbishment, and sustainable recycling solutions that extend the life of technology while reducing environmental impact. This role is essential to that mission. The IT Refurbishment Technician is responsible for evaluating, testing, and restoring technology for reuse, ensuring devices meet quality standards for resale while maintaining strict data security practices. This position requires strong attention to detail, consistency in process execution, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment. Technicians are expected to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and productivity while supporting overall production goals. Key Responsibilities
  • Refurbish and process laptops, desktops, storage drives, components, and related IT equipment
  • Evaluate incoming equipment to determine suitability for refurbishment or recycling
  • Test and diagnose devices to ensure functionality and resale readiness
  • Assign and track inventory within internal ERP systems
  • Maintain high standards of quality control for all products distributed to retail locations
  • Follow and continuously improve established refurbishment processes
  • Ensure all customer data is handled in compliance with data security standards and certifications
  • Support data security services and procedures, including proper handling of data bearing devices
  • Maintain an organized and safe work environment
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred Previous experience in computer hardware, IT, or related technical field preferred Basic understanding of computer systems and components Ability to follow structured processes and maintain accurate records Preferred Candidate Qualifications (not required) CompTIA A+ certification or similar technical background Experience with inventory or ERP systems Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, etc.
) Previous experience in electronics refurbishment, recycling, or IT environments Forklift (hi-lo) experience or certification Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all preferred qualifications. Required Skills & Attributes Strong reliability and consistent attendance Ability to stand, bend, and move for 8 hour shifts Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable moving throughout an operational environment multiple times per day Clear written and verbal English communication skills Ability to accurately identify computer hardware components (e.g., RAM, storage drives, CPUs, GPUs, and peripherals) Strong attention to detail and quality control Team oriented mindset with a willingness to support multiple functions Self motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude Work Environment & Expectations Fast paced operational environment with variable daily workload High emphasis on quality, accuracy, and efficiency Cross functional support expected when primary tasks are complete Consistent engagement and productivity throughout scheduled shifts Security & Compliance Responsible for handling data bearing devices and sensitive materials Must follow all data security, chain of custody, and confidentiality procedures
