Full-Time, Non-Exempt Job Overview:
Vision Net, Montana's largest state-wide network and premier data center provider is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with fiber optics, routers, switches, and other networking equipment while ensuring optimal performance and reliability of Vision Net's network.
Essential Job Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment including routers, switches, modems, and structured cabling. Perform diagnostics and repairs on network hardware and software issues. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on network infrastructure. Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to support network upgrades and expansions. Document network configurations, maintenance activities, and service reports. Respond to service tickets and troubleshoot connectivity issues in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations. Assist in planning and implementing network security measures. Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed. Work in a safe and effective manner. Maintain confidentiality of company information and records when required. Travel to remote locations for work with scheduled and non-scheduled notice. Work independently and within a team. Hold a valid Montana driver's license, and safe driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Telecommunications technologies (Voice, Data, IP, Ethernet, Photonics, Security). Network protocols (DWDM, BGP, TCP/IP, SIP, OSPF, SNMP, MPLS). Industry best practices and standards. Industry regulations and compliance requirements. OSS/BSS systems and network management tools. Microsoft 365 and other relevant software.
Education and Experience:
Associate degree or technical certification in Telecommunications, Networking, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred). 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications or network support Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)/Administrator (PCNSA), or BICSI. Any combination of the above requirements or equivalent education will be considered
Working Conditions:
Full-time, rotating shifts (weekends, evenings, overnights, holidays). Rotating On-Call duty may also be required. Frequent in-state travel and overnights. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Occasional outdoors work in adverse weather conditions. Occasional confined spaces conditions.
