Compensation:
$29.14 - $36.92 - New hires will be placed at Step 1 through 9 dependent on prior contracted educational experience. Employees in qualifying positions will receive a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision and will receive contributions to their PERS retirement accounts. Position Overview We are seeking a versatile Network Technician 1 to join our IT Department. This role is primarily focused on maintaining a functional learning environment by providing direct technical support to district staff and students. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced academic setting and possesses a "fix-it" mentality for both hardware and software. Key Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications Educational Environment Support
Preferred:
Previous experience providing Tier 1 technical support within a K-12 or Higher Education setting. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff and faculty with patience and clarity. Hardware Maintenance & Repair Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform physical repairs on a high volume of mobile devices, specifically Apple iPads and Google Chromebooks. Maintain and repair peripheral hardware, including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, and printers. Platform & Systems Proficiency
Cross-Platform Expertise:
Advanced proficiency in both macOS and Windows operating systems. Mobile Device Management (MDM): A foundational understanding of MDM enrollment and deployment workflows, specifically using Jamf Pro for Apple devices.
Cloud Administration:
Experience navigating and managing user accounts/groups within Google Workspace for Education. Network & Troubleshooting Basic troubleshooting of wired and wireless connectivity issues within the school campus. Assist in the setup and decommissioning of workstations and classroom technology suites. Technical Skills Checklist Category Requirement OS Windows 10/11, macOS, ChromeOS, iOS Hardware Chromebook screen/keyboard repair Software Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365 Management MDM understanding, Google Admin Console Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 1+ year of hands-on technology experience (paid, internship, volunteer, or coursework all qualify) Working proficiency with Windows 10/11 and macOS Comfortable performing basic hardware repairs (replacing screens, batteries, keyboards) Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the patience to explain technical concepts to non-technical users Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces (under desks, in equipment closets) Valid Oregon driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between school sites Ability to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting (required for all K-12 employees in Oregon) Preferred Qualifications Previous Tier 1 support experience in a K-12 or Higher Education environment
JAMF 100
certification (or willingness to obtain within first year) Hands-on exposure to Jamf Pro, Google Admin Console, or other MDM platforms Experience supporting interactive whiteboards, document cameras, or classroom AV equipment Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., Incident IQ, Spiceworks, Freshservice) Key Responsibilities End-User Support Provide friendly, patient Tier 1 technical support to district staff and students, both in person and via the ticketing system. Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users. Device Repair & Maintenance Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform physical repairs on student devices (primarily Apple iPads and Google Chromebooks). Maintain peripheral classroom hardware including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, and printers. Platform Support Support users across Windows 10/11, macOS, ChromeOS, and iOS. Assist with Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft Office 365 issues. Device Management Assist with MDM enrollment and deployment workflows in Jamf Pro (Apple devices) and the Google Admin Console (Chromebooks). Help manage user accounts and group memberships. Network Connectivity Perform basic troubleshooting of wired and wireless connectivity issues at the user/device level. Escalate infrastructure-level issues to the Network Administrator. Deployments Assist with the setup, deployment, and retirement of workstations and classroom technology.
