THE POSITION

The Information Technology Generalist 1 for the Department of Corrections plays a key role in keeping essential systems running at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Chester. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports computer systems, software, and network operations throughout the institution to ensure users can perform their work effectively. The role helps maintain reliable technology and provides hands on assistance with daily IT needs. As a Information Technology Generalist 1, you will perform the following duties:
User Support:
Assist staff and inmates with computer hardware, software, and file transfers while identifying technology needs
Problem Diagnosis:
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, run diagnostic tools, and coordinate solutions with technical staff or vendors
System Configuration:
Set up and install computers, software, and network components according to agency requirements
Inventory Maintenance:
Track computer equipment, update records, and complete annual inventory reviews
Network Assistance:
Troubleshoot connectivity issues, support LAN operations, and help maintain reliable network performance
Training Delivery:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
