Our Senior IT Technician Network Securitys are responsible for market share growth and fostering long-term relationships through the utilization of all available tools including web-based technologies, onsite meetings, and demonstrations. As an Senior IT Technician Network Security, you will employ a consultative selling strategy, interpreting customer needs and providing a strategic technical roadmap for hardware, software, and systems while attaining appropriate sales goals and metrics. We look for candidates who are energetic and focused with a strong motivation to learn new technologies along with learning customer management and maintenance processes. RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties:
Design, deploy, configure, and maintain secure network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, and wireless systemsMonitor client networks for security events; investigate, triage, and respond to incidents in accordance with SLAsPerform vulnerability assessments, patch management, and security hardening across client environmentsImplement and maintain endpoint protection, EDR/MDR, email security, MFA, and identity management solutionsLead and document network security projects, migrations, and upgrades from kickoff through closeoutServe as an escalation point for junior technicians and provide mentorship and knowledge transferMaintain accurate documentation of client environments, configurations, change records, and incident reportsTravel to client sites throughout West Michigan as required for installations, audits, and incident responseEnhance customer loyalty and perception of IP Consulting through excellent technical service
General Requirements:
Strong consulting and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences Proven planning, prioritization, and organizational skills across multiple concurrent client engagements Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing requirements and emerging threats Keen attention to detail and disciplined approach to documentation and change control Confidence working directly with clients in both routine and high-pressure (incident) situations Strong ability to work in a team-based environment Self-starter with excellent time management and on-call responsiveness Valid drivers license and insurance with reliable transportation to travel to various client locations around
West Michigan Required Technical Skills:
5+ years of hands-on IT experience with at least 23 years focused on network security Deep expertise with next-generation firewalls (e.g., Cisco Firepower/ASA, Fortinet, Palo Alto, SonicWall, Meraki MX) Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing protocols, VPNs (IPsec/SSL), and wireless security (WPA2/3, 802.1X) Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and security monitoring tools Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 / Azure AD security, Windows Server, and Active Directory hardening Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST
CSF, CIS
Controls, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) Familiarity with Linux and Linux-based security & networking tools Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT ticketing/RMM platforms Must have quiet space to work and a reliable, high-speed internet connection
Certifications Desired:
CompTIA Security+ (required or to be obtained within 6 months) Cisco
CCNA / CCNP
Security Fortinet NSE 4 or higher, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, or equivalent firewall certification CISSP, CySA+, or CEH a strong plusDesired experience: 5+ years in IT support/administration with demonstrated network security responsibilities, preferably in an MSP or multi-client environment
Required Education:
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or equivalent relevant experience
