Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Network Systems Technician is a key member of the District Technology Team, reporting directly to the Director of Technology. This position has access to confidential and sensitive district data, including student information systems and network security infrastructure. The primary role is to oversee the administration, security, performance, and reliability of the District's IT infrastructure. This includes cloud and on-premise systems, network environments, unified communications, safety and security systems, and end-user support. The position works collaboratively with the Director of Technology, vendors, and managed service providers to design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing systems. Work is performed with a high degree of independence and professional judgment.SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Industry certifications preferred
- Experience managing modern enterprise hardware and network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, wireless access points)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Windows Server and Active Directory / Group Policy
- Platforms such as Google Cloud, Azure, Intune, and Cloud MDM
- Virtualization platforms
- Network security tools (firewalls, endpoint protection, MFA)
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Chromebooks, Interactive Boards (Smart, Newline), and other Instructional Technology
- Device management tools and hardware repair
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and prioritize effectively
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 45 pounds
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a technical lead and advisor to the Director of Technology Collaborate on strategic planning, budgeting, and prioritization of IT initiatives Administer and maintain district infrastructure, including: Network systems (switching, routing, wireless) Servers (on-premises and cloud-based) Identity and access management systems Monitor system performance, uptime, and cybersecurity posture using modern monitoring and alerting tools Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices aligned with K-12 standards (e.g., MFA, endpoint protection, data encryption, vulnerability management, training) Manage and support core district systems, including: Google Cloud, Azure, Intune, Configuration Manager Content filtering and classroom management tools Backup and disaster recovery systems Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and assist Help Desk operations Deploy, configure, and maintain staff and student devices (Chromebooks, Windows) Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and training materials Provide training on district-supported technology platforms Maintain compliance with data privacy laws and regulations Support and maintain: Phone systems Emergency notification systems Security camera and access control systems Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, replacing or upgrading components as needed Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements Perform other duties as assigned Provide hardware support and repair to Instructional Technology, including Chromebooks, Interactive Displays, and printers.Pay:
