Job Description

The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value delivered by business systems and product delivery teams by managing product vision, priorities, and backlog execution. This role ensures the right initiatives are delivered at the right time by aligning business objectives, customer experience, and operational needs with system capabilities. Working closely with IT and business stakeholders, the Product Owner translates strategic goals into clearly defined and prioritized work for analysts and development teams. The role focuses on defining what should be built and why, enabling technical teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that improve revenue, operational efficiency, and customer experience. The ideal candidate is collaborative, organized, and solution-oriented, with the ability to simplify complex challenges, drive alignment across teams, and support confident decision-making throughout the product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Own and manage the product backlog for assigned systems and initiatives, ensuring work is clearly defined, prioritized, and ready for development Partner with business stakeholders to understand goals related to revenue growth, customer experience, operational efficiency, and performance improvements Translate business requirements into clear user stories, business requirements, and acceptance criteria Lead backlog refinement and grooming sessions with analysts and development teams Make prioritization, scope, and tradeoff decisions to maximize business value and delivery outcomes Ensure requirements are complete, testable, and aligned before development begins Collaborate with analysts to validate workflows, business rules, data requirements, and edge cases Work with developers to clarify requirements and confirm solution feasibility while allowing technical teams to own design decisions Review and accept completed work based on defined acceptance criteria and expected business value Maintain alignment across business, product, and technology teams to reduce delivery friction and minimize rework Support planning activities, including roadmap planning, release planning, and program increment (PI) planning Communicate priorities, changes, risks, and impacts clearly to stakeholders and leadership Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams Support additional projects and strategic initiatives as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Technology, or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience in business systems, product ownership, business analysis, or related roles Proven experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements Strong decision-making skills with comfort making tradeoffs Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment Close attention to detail with a strong focus on outcomes
