Full Job Description Description:
This posting is for a new position due to growth! The Product Owner is responsible for defining and prioritizing product features, managing the product backlog, and ensuring the development team delivers maximum value to Leap Orbit customers. Guided by Leap Orbit's mission of turning health data into public good, this role serves as the primary liaison between stakeholders, customers, and the development team, translating business needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria. The ideal candidate will have worked in public health as an epidemiologist, case investigator or analyst and have also worked as a product owner at a healthcare technology vendor. The individual will work directly for the Director, Head of Product. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams comprised of customers, internal staff, third-party consultants, technology suppliers, and member/participant staff and vendors to achieve Leap Orbit deliverables. They will ensure that Leap Orbit Canada and US customers receive a best-in-class product experience rooted in user-centric design, Agile delivery, and a relentless pursuit of using AI in features and tooling to drive efficiency, quality, and trust. This position is also expected to support the overall operation of Leap Orbit when needed. Certain tasks may be asked that do not fall into the essential functions of this job. This role offers the flexibility of working from home within Canada , with the opportunity to attend conferences, trainings, and meetings with key stakeholders as required. Essential Functions Continuous and disciplined prioritization of the product roadmap based on time-adjusted value, ensuring the team is always focused on the highest-impact work. Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog to maximize business value and align with strategic objectives. Write clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring the development team has a shared understanding of requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders, customers, and end users to gather requirements, validate assumptions, and incorporate feedback into the product roadmap. Lead Agile ceremonies with discipline and an understanding of the "why": sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Make timely decisions on scope and priorities, balancing stakeholder needs with technical feasibility and resource constraints. Define and communicate the product vision, goals, and roadmap to internal teams and external stakeholders. Own the output of UX/UI designers, engineers, and QA to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and user expectations. Persistently unblock engineering efforts by proactively identifying and resolving impediments, removing dependencies, and pensuring the team has everything they need to maintain velocity. Monitor product performance, analyze key metrics, and use data-driven insights to inform product decisions. Manage risks and dependencies across product workstreams, escalating issues as needed. Complies with company policies, procedures, and regulations. Attend routine team and status meetings. Work schedules may require reasonable overlap with Eastern Time business hours Occasional travel to HQ or customer sites, up to quarterly, may be required for planning sessions, stakeholder meetings, and team collaboration events. Performs other related duties.
Requirements:
Behavioral and Technical Competencies Excellent in time management with the ability to manage multiple product workstreams. Self-motivated and proactive with a strong sense of ownership. Deep understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and the ability to coach teams on Agile best practices. Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity. Ability to confidently work independently and make sound product decisions. Ability to be flexible and communicate effectively with team members across multiple time zones. Ability to interact professionally and comfortably with individuals at all levels and fields. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable product insights. Ability to become proficient with Company technology. Physical Demands This is a sedentary role which may sit or use a computer for long periods of time. Finger dexterity needed for keyboarding. Extended periods of time reading/viewing computer screens. Required Education and Experience Demonstrated experience in delivering technology solutions in healthcare. Bachelor's Degree or related work experience. Minimum (3) years' experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in a healthcare technology setting, or similar combined background matching. Functional knowledge of product management and project management tools (e.g., Jira/Confluence, Figma, AzureDevOps, Miro). Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within tight deadlines. Strong experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and managing product backlogs. Exceptional experience with customer and stakeholder engagement in written and verbal communication. Proven ability to communicate effectively with customers and development teams at various levels. Display extensive organization skills and methodology in backlog and roadmap management. Demonstrated experience meeting deadlines and delivering incremental product value. Experience in adapting to an innovative and evolving organization and changes in priority. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, OneNote, SharePoint, and Teams. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Must be eligible to travel to the United States for business purposes and obtain any required travel documentation. Preferred Education and Experience Direct clinical experience or experience with government agencies. Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or equivalent Agile certification. Demonstrated experience using the Agile Scrum Framework in a product delivery capacity. Knowledge of public health terminology using HL7 v2, v3, and FHIR. Experience working with distributed or remote teams across Canadian provinces and U.S. time zones. Annual Salary:
CAD $125,000 - $155,000 Full-time, 40 hours/week
