at Robert Half in Augusta, Maine, United States Job Description Description We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to guide Agile delivery for enterprise HR technology initiatives supporting public sector operations in Augusta, Maine. This is a Long-term Contract position focused on helping cross-functional teams deliver reliable, compliant, and high-quality solutions within a Workday-centered environment. The role partners closely with HR, payroll, IT, and business stakeholders to improve team effectiveness, maintain delivery momentum, and support continuous improvement. Success in this position requires strong facilitation, clear communication, and the ability to remove obstacles in a fast-moving setting.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Scrum and Agile team ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily check-ins, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives to keep work organized and moving forward.
- Coach team members, product partners, and stakeholders on Agile values, delivery practices, and ways to improve collaboration across functional areas.
- Monitor sprint health through metrics such as velocity and burn-down trends, then share progress updates and risks with leadership and stakeholders.
- Remove blockers that affect delivery by coordinating with HR, payroll, IT, vendors, and other partners to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Work closely with product owners and system leads to prepare backlog items, clarify priorities, and support realistic sprint commitments.
- Promote high standards for quality, transparency, and predictability while helping the team balance business needs, compliance expectations, and technical constraints.
- Act as a central point of coordination between application development teams and agency stakeholders to support scalable, dependable Workday-related solutions.
- Encourage continuous improvement by identifying process gaps, recommending adjustments, and helping teams adopt more effective Agile and delivery practices.
- Support planning and risk management activities related to configuration, releases, and enterprise HR system enhancements when needed. Requirements
- 2 to 4+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master, Agile facilitator, or in a similar delivery leadership role.
- Solid knowledge of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or blended delivery models.
- Background working with HR systems, with preference for experience in Workday environments.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and highly collaborative setting.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across HR, payroll, IT, and business groups.
- Experience using Agile metrics and reporting tools to track progress, identify risks, and support informed decision-making.
- Ability to coach teams, remove impediments, and foster accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Candidates must be able to work remotely while residing in the Eastern or Central time zones.
