Job Title:
Senior Scrum Master Location(s):Austin, TX Job Description:
The Enterprise Data group is entering a transition to a spec-driven development workflow that emphasizes clarity of intent, rapid collaboration, and high-quality execution within a scaled product and engineering organization. This transition represents a meaningful shift from traditional agile execution toward a more intentional, design-first delivery model. Scrum Masters in this environment are not simply facilitating ceremonies - they are active change agents helping teams adapt to new ways of working, learn unfamiliar workflows, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving delivery system. Success requires strong systems thinking, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to coach teams through continuous experimentation while maintaining delivery momentum. We are seeking highly adaptable, learning-oriented Scrum Master contractors who thrive in transformation settings and can quickly build trust with product, engineering, and platform partners. Ideal candidates are versatile facilitators and pragmatic coaches who can balance delivery discipline with flexibility, help teams internalize spec-driven practices, and contribute to shaping a modern, collaborative software development culture at enterprise scale. The Senior Scrum Master has primary responsibility for facilitating the formation, learning, and growth of multiple cross-functional delivery teams in developing a Lean/Agile mindset, adopting and continuously improving practices in their context, and guiding teams and leaders to enable the effective flow of delivery across the end-to-end value stream. As a servant-leader, the Senior Scrum Master plays a key role in planning, facilitation, supporting teams, removing impediments, providing team coaching and mentorship, visualizing the Lean value stream to optimize for flow, and working with other Lean/Agile practitioners.Responsibilities:
Facilitate contextual adoption of the Scrum Framework, including daily scrum, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and related team meetings. Facilitate contextual adoption of Lean Thinking, including visualization and continuous optimization of delivery flow using the Kanban Method. Facilitate and participate in scaled events, including cross-team planning, delivery synchronization, and systems-level inspect and adapt activities. Foster team collaboration and proactive, open communication. Encourage an experimental, fail-fast, and learning mindset. Sustain and promote usage of information radiators for teams and the broader organization. Collect and share transparent team metrics, recommend meaningful metrics, and foster continuous improvement conversations. Prepare and facilitate quarterly, release, and sprint planning with product owners and teams. Guide feature and story-level refinement to Definition of Ready standards. Maintain a healthy backlog and rolling release planning with product owners and managers. Support teams in developing increasing levels of self-organization. Remove organizational impediments impacting delivery. Support communication of delivery progress, gaps, and risks with stakeholders. Facilitate cross-team orchestration and dependency management. Protect teams from unnecessary distractions and disruptions. Build psychologically safe, collaborative, and high-performing team environments. Help teams define and refine working agreements, Definition of Ready, and Definition of Done. Encourage brainstorming, creativity, equal participation, and innovative thinking. Coach teams on Lean, Agile, and Scrum principles with a focus on continuous improvement. Create a collaborative, open, and learning-oriented team culture. Promote teamwork and Lean flow of value delivery. Support broader Lean/Agile adoption initiatives across the organization.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or equivalent practical experience. 4+ years of Scrum Master experience supporting high-performing Agile teams. Experience working in organizations committed to Lean-Agile delivery practices. Experience supporting cloud infrastructure and DevOps-focused teams. Experience with test automation, CI/CD, and operational stability practices. Experience using Agile collaboration tools such as Jira, Rally, or VersionOne. Strong collaboration, facilitation, and coaching skills. Strong interest in AI-enabled workflows and integrating AI agents into human systems and processes. Experience using delivery metrics to drive improvement and transparency. Bias toward action and continuous improvement.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience driving Agile transformation and organizational change. Agile and Scrum certifications such as PSM, CSM, CSP-SM, SAFe Agilist, SAFe Scrum Master, or TKP. Growth mindset with openness to giving and receiving constructive feedback. Experience using collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, MURAL, or Trello.Additional Information:
