Data Integration Specialist Supervisor:
Executive Director of Technology Job Goals:
To maintain, implement, and design enterprise-level database systems to facilitate data integration across all critical district applications, including those supporting human resources, finance, student information, and all other essential operations. To ensure data integrity and securely protect the transfer of data across all systems by evaluating, maintaining, installing, and providing training on solutions that support the school system's educational and operational goals. To provide information, technical support, remedies, and recommendations regarding optimal data integrations to maximize data accuracy and privacy. To develop and integrate dashboards and reports to support the implementation of district objectives and initiatives, including but not limited to, the Consent Decree.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED Minimum of two (2) years technology-related work experience. One year of college coursework in a technology related field OR at least one of the following valid and current industry certifications or certification comparable to: CompTIA DataSys+,
Microsoft Certified:
Database Administrator Associate. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Proficient understanding of relational database design, architecture, and normalization concepts. Ability to install, configure, and manage database server systems such as MSSQL. Ability to interpret, write, and optimize complex scripts or queries for data extraction, manipulation, and reporting. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. Experience in infrastructure planning and development. Understanding of the goals and objectives of a K-12 organization. Proficiency with scripting languages and automation tools used for database administration. Proficiency with configuring and maintaining API connections between enterprise-level database systems. High level of personal initiative and ability to work without close supervision. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to relate complex technical concepts. Strong leadership, organizational and project management skills. Ability to conduct and direct research into technology issues and products as required for resolution. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; agility and dexterity needed to stoop, bend, lift/move equipment when necessary and to perform technical equipment inspections and/or repairs, including the inspection of cabling in floors and ceilings. Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance. Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities. Advocates, supports, promotes, and communicates all aspects of the Jefferson County School System technology programs, services and initiatives. Provides secure, efficient, effective, courteous and timely support on assigned tasks or projects. Ensures data integrity, consistency, and reliability across all district systems and departments. Responsible for generating, validating, and disseminating district-level reports related to key organizational initiatives, including but not limited to Consent Decree data requirements, Strategic Planning, and state and federal reports. Supports secure data integration and exchange between systems through structured integrations and automation. Implements data standards, naming conventions, and documentation for school, district, state, and federal reporting requirements. Collaborates with district departments to support instructional, administrative, and operational data needs. Works closely with the Director of Educational Opportunities to support data requirements related to the Consent Decree. Provides secure data import and export for all instructional and informational technology systems to include scripting as needed. Creates, interprets, and optimizes complex database queries for reporting, data integration, and operational analysis. Applies general understanding of K-12 organizational goals to improve data systems that support teaching, learning, support systems, Consent Decree implementation, and decision-making. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. Models and maintains high ethical standards. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility. Participates successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership. Serves on school/system committees as required. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner. Maintains tools, equipment, and parts in good repair; efficiently uses time and system resources. Maintains accurate inventory records in accordance with system financial procedures. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Supervisor(s).
