- 130k base salary + full benefits + 401k matching Position Overview We are seeking a BAS (Building Automation Systems) Application Engineer to design, program, commission, and support building automation and control systems for commercial and industrial facilities.
The role focuses on developing reliable, energy-efficient control strategies and integrations using platforms such as Andover Continuum, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, and Tridium Niagara, while collaborating with project teams, electricians, and HVAC technicians to meet performance and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Design and develop BAS control strategies, sequences of operation, and system architecture for new and retrofit projects. Program and configure BAS controllers and supervisory software using Andover Continuum, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, Tridium Niagara, and other platforms as required. Perform detailed point mapping, I/O configuration, graphics development, and alarm configuration for BAS front-end systems. Commission and start up BAS hardware and software on site: verify I/O, tune control loops, validate sequences, and resolve integration issues with field devices and third-party systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical, network, and control issues in BAS and associated equipment; provide timely corrective actions and documentation. Develop and maintain technical documentation including control narratives, schematics, network diagrams, commissioning reports, and O&M manuals. Collaborate with mechanical engineers, HVAC technicians, electrical contractors, and project managers to ensure system designs meet performance, code, and client requirements. Provide customer support and training for facility staff on BAS operation, fault diagnostics, and energy optimization best practices. Support proposals and scope definition by estimating programming effort, integration complexity, and commissioning labor. Stay current with BAS technologies, industry standards, and energy efficiency trends to recommend system improvements and upgrades. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, programming, and commissioning Building Automation Systems (BAS). Proven experience with Andover Continuum, Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, OR Tridium Niagara platforms (configuration, programming, and commissioning). Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control theory, PID tuning, sensors, actuators, and control valves. Familiarity with industrial electrical systems, wiring practices, relay logic, power distribution, and safety standards. Proficiency with BACnet, Modbus, OPC, LonWorks, and other common BAS communication protocols and network fundamentals (Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs). Experience with field commissioning tools, test equipment, and documenting commissioning results. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and client-facing skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Certification such as NICET, BICSI, Schneider Electric certifications, or Tridium Niagara certification is a plus. Willingness to travel to project sites and work in field environments as required.
